The KMAT Kerala exam pattern includes four sections, i.e. Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, English Language Usage & Reading Comprehension and General Knowledge and Current Affairs. There are 40 questions in each section. Questions are in the multiple-choice format, with four marks awarded for correct answers and a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer. The total duration of the exam is usually 180 minutes, and it is conducted online in English.

Yes, the KMAT Kerala exam has negative marking. There are four sections in the KMAT Kerala exam, and each section carries about 40-50 multiple-chocie questions (MCQs). Candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct answer. One mark will be deducted from the total score for each incorrect answer marked by the candidate. There are a total of 180 questions in the KMAT Kerala question paper and the total marks is 720.

The KMAT Kerala exam was traditionally conducted in the paper-based test mode or offline mode. But over the years, the mode of examination changed. The KMAT Kerala exam is now being conducted in the computer-based test mode or online mode. Candidates who wish to appear for the KMAT Kerala exam have to visit the allotted KMAT Kerala exam centre to take the exam. The students are required to marks the answers on the computer screen. There are only multiple-choice questions and the students have to select the correct answer.

The KMAT Kerala exam is conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Exams (CEE) on behalf of the Kerala Government. CEE is responsible for organizing the exam, setting the exam pattern, conducting the test, and releasing the results. They are also involved in coordinating the admission process based on the KMAT Kerala scores for various management programs offered by participating institutes in the state of Kerala. The exam is a gateway for admissions to various management schools across the state of Kerala.

CEE also conducts various other entrance exams also for admission to various universities and institutes in the state of Kerala such as Kerala Engineering Architecture and Medical exam (KEAM) which is conducted for admission to engineering courses at various colleges in Kerela that are approved by the Central and State Regulatory Bodies. CEE also conducts entrance exams for courses such as BTech, BArch, BPharma, MSc, LLB, LLM, MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, PGA, PGM, etc.

KMAT Kerala 2026 Marking Scheme and Sectional Weightage

  • For each question, four marks are allotted in case of correct attempts

  • In case of wrong attempts, one mark is deducted for each incorrect response marked

  • No marks are awarded or deducted for questions not attempted

There is no restriction in solving the questions. The candidates can start with the section of his/her choice and solve the question paper in the sequence they find most convenient. They must time themselves well to avoid a last-minute scramble. The candidates are advised to reach the exam centre an hour before the exam and not carry any electronic gadgets such as a calculator, mobile phone, iPad, etc.

No, the KMAT Kerala exam will be conducted only in single shift. The exam has always been conducted in one shift on a single day. KMAT Kerala exam pattern has not changed much since past few years.
