KGMU Lucknow offers direct admission to only BSc aspirants. For BSc course, the selection is based on the last qualifying exam of Class 12. For other Medical and Dental courses such as MBBS, BDS, MD, DM, etc., candidates are selected based on national-level entrance exams. Admission to these courses is completely based on a valid scores of NEET UG, NEET PG, NEET SS, etc., entrance exams. King George's Medical University is a goverment university which was established in 1905. The university is accredited with A Grade by NAAC and is approved by UGC, DCI, and MCI. King George's Medical University is a public university which is accredited with A Grade by NAAC. Being a public university. The fee for various courses is not very high. Even if the students find the fee a little high, they can apply for the scholarships offered by the university.

King George's Medical University (KGMU) offers various scholarships to undergraduate, postgraduate, and various other course students as financial assistance. Some of the scholarships provided by the university are Award to Meritorious Students of the University at the Undergraduate Level, Grant In Aid for Students Presenting Research Paper in a Scientific Event, Financial Aid for Needy Undergraduate Students (In Campus Part-Time Jobs), Students Scholarship and Other Welfare Schemes, Scholarship Scheme under Dean Student Welfare, and others.

KGMU accepts admission to most of the Medical courses through a valid score in NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the sole entrance test for admission to the BDS and MBBS programmes in India. KGMU cutoff 2024 for NEET UG Round 5 seat allotment has been released for the ST AI category candidates. As per KGMU NEET cutoff 2024, the cutoff rank for BDS for the ST category candidates belonging to All India Quota is 320828. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), conducts NEET UG counselling across various rounds and categories. Candidates who qualify the selection process for various UG & PG courses at KGMU are offered admission. After the commencement of the counselling process, the selected candidates are required to pay fee for the respective courses to confirm their seats.

The NEET SS application fee is INR 3,500. The fee is same for candidates belonging to each category. This is the application fee for each group. Hence, candidates planning to apply for two groups will have to pay INR 7,000 (3,500 + 3,500). The fee has to be paid in online mode, via credit/debit card or net banking. NBE states, "Applications forms once submitted cannot be withdrawn. Fee shall neither be carried forward to a future date nor refunded under any circumstances. Application once submitted cannot be withdrawn. Any claim for refund, adjustment or carrying forward of Application fee will not be entertained. Examination fees in respect of candidates who are absent or have been declared ineligible due to any reason will be forfeited." As compared to last year, the fee has been reduced. Last year, the fee amount was INR 4,250 for each group.
