What is MGU CAT?
Mahatma Gandhi University Common Admission Test or MGU CAT is conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam for admissions to MSc, MA, Master of Tourism and Travel Management, LLM and M.Ed. and other courses. For admission to the MBA programmes offered by MGU, candidates are selected on the basis of CMAT/CAT/KMAT score. For admission to MTech programme, candidates with GATE score can apply directly. Such candidates have to participate only in the MGU CAT counselling process.

MGU CAT Eligibility Criteria 2026
MGU CAT is a postgraduate entrance exam. Students must complete their graduation before applying. Different courses have different eligibility rules, and candidates need to meet the required academic qualifications for admission. Most programmes require a minimum of 45% to 50% marks in the qualifying degree. Some science and professional courses also need specific subjects at graduation level. For example, MSc and MA courses usually ask for a relevant bachelor’s degree. While LLM and M.Ed have their own special requirements. MGU CAT 2026 Admission Process
MGU CAT 2026 Application Process
To appear for MGU CAT candidates will be required to fill an online application form and submit the same before the deadline. Fee can be paid via Debit Card or Internet Banking or at the nearest Akshaya Centre.MGU application window will open from April to May 2026.

MGU CAT admit card will be issued to registered candidates a week before the exam dat. The hall ticket will be available online and candidates will have to download the same from the official website of Mahatma Gandhi University. The MGU CAT admit card 2026 will be required to be presented at the exam centre for entry.

Appear for MGU CAT 2026
The exam mode is computer-based and the duration of MGU CAT 2026 will be 90 minutes. There will be multiple-choice questions pertaining to their subjects in UG degree course. MGU CAT marking scheme is different for each subject. The exam will be held at test centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Kochi, Kozhikode, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

MGU CAT 2026 Counselling
After MGU CAT 2026 result announcement, counselling process will be conducted to select candidates for admission. For MBA course, the counselling process will include GD and PI while the counselling process of rest of the courses will include Descriptive Test and PI.

The MBA entrance exam scores are valid for admission to MG University’s MBA courses are CAT, CMAT and KMAT. Candidates must have passed any one of these exams in the same academic year. They are not required to appear for MGU CAT and can directly participate in the personal assessment round – GD and PI.
After the MGU CAT exam is conducted and the result is announced, the university conducts a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) which includes PI or GD-PI. CAT qualifying candidates have to participate and clear the GD/PI round for their respective courses to be selected for admission. Thereafter the final merit list is prepared based on candidates’ overall performance.
For admission to M.Tech programme offered by MG University, candidates must have valid GATE score. They must have passed GATE exam in same academic year. Such candidates are not required to appear in MGU CAT exam and can directly seek admission by participating in the GD/PI round.
