NIT Rourkela M.Plan Courses & Fees 2026

The students of NIT Rourkela can apply for scholarships offered by the National or State Government. PhD scholarship/ fellowship is also offered to students by the institute. Below mentioned are the details of some of the NIT Rourkela Scholarships:

1. Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS): SC/ ST students are eligible for Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) of the respective State Governments if they satisfy the norms set by the State Government.
2. Top Class Scholarship: Among the admitted students in the first year top 12 SC students and top 5 ST students are eligible for the scholarship by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GOI provided their parental annual income is below INR 4.5 lakh.
3. GATE Scholarship: Students who have taken admission through GATE are eligible for a scholarship of INR 8,000 per month.
4. PhD scholarship: A PhD student with MTech/ MPharm degree and within the age limit is eligible for an Institute research fellowship for four years. The students will get INR 31,000 per month for the first two years and INR 35,000 per month for the next two years on satisfactory performance.

NIT Rourkela is a government funded national-level institution managed by the Board of Governors of the National Institute of Technology (Rourkela) Society. The Institute offers courses accredited by NBA and is ranked 67 by the QS Southern Asia University Ranking 2024.

It is ranked 13 under the Engineering category of NIRF 2025 rankings. The Institute offers BTech and MBA as flagship programme. Apart from this, the Institute offers several other facilities and opportunities alongside academics.

NIT Rourkela offers UG, PG and PhD level courses with durations varying from two years to five years. The Institute offers these courses based on merit and valid entrance scores. NITR offers these courses with a total tuition fees varying from INR 30,000 to INR 6.3 Lakh.

In addition to the academic support, NIT Rourkela promotes extra-curricular activities to ensure all-round development of personality. The Student Activity Centre (SAC) is the central hub for student activities, student organizations, programming, events, sports, recreation and fun at the institute campus. The Student Activity Centre is organised into four primary societies and a host of satellite clubs.
