Pondicherry University UG, PG, Certificate, Advanced Masters Courses 2025

Pondicherry University offers a wide range of Integrated PG, postgraduate, Diploma and doctoral programmes in the field of Management, Engineering, Science and Arts, among others. All these courses are offered via the 57 departments under it. Admission to a majority of integrated PG and PG courses at Pondicherry University is subject to CUET UG and CUET PG exams. Additionally, the university also conducted the NCET exam for admission to its Integrated BA-B.Ed, Integrated BSc-B.Ed courses. Interested students can apply for these exams and then apply to the university with a valid score. 

Apart from the full-time programmes, the University offers distance education programmes in the field of Management, Commerce, Arts, Business Administration and more. Admission to all these programmes is done on the basis of merit.

• BBA and BCom are offered at the UG level. The course duration of both programmes is three years. Candidates who have done Class 12 can apply for these programmes. The final selection of students is based on the HSC scores.
• Apart from the UG programmes, the University offers three PG programmes under distance education. MCom, MA and MBA are offered with a course duration of two years. A candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in the relevant stream to be eligible for these programmes. The final selection of students will be based on the graduation scores.

Pondicherry University scholarships are offers various on merit and need basis. The scholarship is given to all PG programmes. Names of some of the scholarships are listed below:

In addition to these scholarships, all the full-time scholars admitted to PhD are eligible for a monthly fellowship of INR 8,000 with contingency. Additionally, all the students of the MSc in Marine Biology and Disaster Management (Port Blair) will get scholarships. Merit scholarships and merit-cum-means scholarships are available for deserving students of PG programmes, namely MSc/ MA and integrated five-year integrated programmes.

Pondicherry University's total seat intake for admission to the BSc course is 4066. This is the total intake across various colleges affiliated to Pondicherry University. Some of the affiliated colleges are Bharathidasan Govt. College For Women, Mahatma Gandhi Government Arts College, Saradha Gangadharan College and Tagore Government Arts and Science College, among others. 

Pondicherry University has over 20+ affiliated colleges offering BTech courses. This amounts to an intake of 6,000+ seats for the BTech programme. Some of the colleges with prominent seat intakes include Christ Institute of Technology (formerly Dr. S.J.S. Paul Memorial College of Engineering and Technology), MVIT-Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology, and more. Out of all the affiliated colleges and institutes, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC), has the highest intake with 1380 seats.

Yes, Pondicherry University offers a three-year MCA programme spread over six semesters. The course is available at the Department of Computer Science of the Puducherry campus and at the Department of Computer Science of the Karaikal campus of Pondicherry University. A total of 125 seats are available combined at both campuses out of which 75 are available at the Puducherry campus while the remaining 50 are offered at the Karaikal campus.

Yes, there are 22 hostels present on the university campus. 14 are for boys and 8 for girls.  The rooms are on a sharing basis, with two to four students in one room. Hostel rooms have basic facilities, such as beds, chairs, and cupboards, and contain a dining hall, a library, a games room, and a laundry room for the residents.  Hostel accommodation is only on a first-come, first-served basis and is reserved for students coming from distant places, and for those who are pursuing certain courses, such as medicine and engineering, etc. 

 

 

 

For BTech admission at Pondicherry University, over 6000 seats are available. All these seats are available across multiple affiliated colleges of Pondicherry University. However, the distribution of seats depends on B.Tech specialisations. 

As per Pondicherry University cutoff 2023, the closing ranks for top 5 integrated courses stood at 368.33 for Integrated M.Sc. in Physics, 343.48 for Integrated M.Sc. in Chemistry, 341.05 for Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics, 309.38 for Integrated M.Sc. in Computer Science and 293.35 for Integrated M.Sc. in Statistics for General category All India candidates. Of all the specialisations,  Integrated M.Sc. in Physics can be considered as the most competitive of all because of the highest closing scores in the last two years. 

Pondicherry University accept NEET PG scores for the admission to MD courses. However, the NEET PG admission has been concluded with the release of Round 2 seat allotment result. As per the Round 2 seat allotment, the MD in Microbiology cutoff stood at, 41365 for the General AI category candidates. Pondicherry University accepts CUET PG exam for admission to Masters and Integrated Masters Programs. A valid CUET PG is necessary to get into Pondicherry University. Pondicherry University allow admission to MBBS, BDS, and BAMS courses via NEET exam. The university has released the NEET cutoffs for General, OBC and SC. As per the Pondicherry University NEET cutoff 2024, the rank stood between 112999 and 335484 for the General AI category candidates. Similarly, for the OBC AI quota, the last-round closing rank stood between 244091 and 499091.

In general, the admission process begins in March every year. For the admission session 2025-26, the application process started with the registration process of CUET on the official website of NTA. The university accepts CUET-UG for admission to its PG-integrated courses. To appear for the same, students must have completed their Class 12 with relevant subjects.
