Sikkim University is building a world-class campus on a plot of land measuring 300 acres at Yangang in the South District of Sikkim and located 56 kilometers from Gangtok. The Government of Sikkim handed over a major portion of land for the purpose and the former President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, in his capacity as the Visitor of the university, laid the foundation stone of the campus on April 16, 2013 in the august presence of the Governor and the Chief Minister of Sikkim.

Sikkim University PG admissions are based on CUET PG scores followed by the counselling. For 2023, Sikkim University Counselling for CUET PG closed after Round 2 Seat Allotment. The closing ranks for top 5 PG courses stood at 127 for M.A. in International Relations, 155 for Master of Law (LL.M.), 179 for M.A. in English, 215 for M.A. in Psychology and 128 for M.A. in Political Science for General category All India Quota seats. Of all the PG courses,  M.A. in Psychology, can be considered the most competitive of all because of the highest closing scores at 215.

Sikkim University accepts CUET UG scores for admissions to its MBA programme. Thus, candidates who wish to take admission must have appeared for the said exam. However, NTA has not yet released the exam schedule for 2025. As per sources across the web, the exam date is expected to be held in May 2025.
