Established in 1857, Mumbai University (MU) is a state-run institution, recognised by the UGC and accredited with an A++ grade by the NAAC. According to the NIRF Ranking 2024, Mumbai University is at 61 position among the top Universities in India. University of Mumbai offers more than 200 Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Doctoral, and Certificate programmes in Engineering, Arts, Science, Management, Law, etc. Mumbai University also provides distance learning programmes through its Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL Mumbai University), in addition to its full-time and part-time courses.

Q:   I've scored less than 50% in Class 12, can I get admission in Mumbai University for BSc?
A: 

At Mumbai University, candidates have to meet the eligibility imp for getting admission to the BSc courses. To be eligible for BSc course at Mumbai University, a student must have cleared Class 12 with several relevant subjects. The min. aggregate required in Class 12 differs across the specialisations offered to students. For most specialisations, the min. aggregate required in the Class 12 is 35%. Hence, a candidate scoring 50% in Class 12 is eligible to apply for the BSc programmes available at the university. However, the BSc admissions at Mumbai University can change and are based on the merit in Class 12. The students are given a seat only if they manage to clear the cut-off imp for the particular specialisation. In case, the students cannot clear the BSc cut-off released by the university, they can do BSc through the colleges offering online BSc courses.
