Utkal University BBA Eligibility & Highlights 2023

BBA at Utkal University is offered through its multiple affiliated colleges and a five-year integrated BBA + MBA course under the Department of Business Administration. Directorate of Distance & Continuing Education, Utkal University offers a three-year Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) in distance mode. Admission to this UG course is done on a first-come-first-serve basis. The seats are reserved as per the guidelines of Utkal University PG Council subject to clearing the entrance examination.

There are good faculty members and good placements in other departments.

Placements: There are 60 students in each batch of the IMBA course. Placements are not good. Usually, they do not bring many companies. Internships have to be found on your own. Every student has to do an internship compulsorily in the 5th year. Normally, private banks come for recruitment. Otherwise, placements are not good in our department.

Infrastructure: Hostel quality is average. Different departments have different labs. Classrooms are okay types in our department. The quality of food in the hostel is below average. But our university has 2 canteens and 2 markets for everything, which is nice. Banks and ATMs are here.

Faculty: Teachers are qualified and are also helpful. Though in my department, the things they teach are quite outdated. Not based on recent things, but basically, they are knowledgeable. Semester exams are difficult or easy, depending on the teachers. 90% of students pass.

Other: I am from the IMBA (3+2) batch at Utkal University. For the first 3 years, the course fee is around Rs. 42,000. The last 2 years will be around Rs. 53,000.

Review of Utkal University for the IMBA course.

Placements: Our college does not provide placements, but our certificate from the university remains a top priority. We can choose two specialisations, like HR, finance, marketing, etc. Many students in the university find internships on their own. Students also find a job on their own after graduation.

Infrastructure: The hostel is not of good quality. Girls' hostel is well-maintained and looks good. The mess facilities are available at an affordable price. In boys' hostel, there is a mess facility. Conditions are okay, but there is always garbage here and there. The university has a well-developed infrastructure for students.

Faculty: The IMBA course at Utkal University comes under the Department of Business Administration. Faculty members are good and experienced. This course is guided by a course coordinator along with co-coordinators and many professors in different areas of management, such as finance, marketing, HR, and operations.

Placements: As a current second-year student, I can speak about the overall placement reputation and what we hear from the senior batch. The placement cell is actively working, and the general sentiment is positive. The placement rate for the BBA graduation batch is typically around 60-70 percent. The highest package secured by a BBA graduate is 4 LPA. The average package generally falls between 3.0 and 3.5 LPA.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure at DRIEMS is genuinely good and is one of the university's strong points. The campus is spacious and well-maintained. The BBA department has access to standard classrooms. The common computer labs are sufficient for our academic needs. The central library is well-stocked with essential management and commerce texts. It provides a quiet environment for studying. I appreciate, especially as I focus on maintaining a high CGPA.

Faculty: Faculty members are knowledgeable, highly cooperative, and genuinely good people. They are the main reason I maintain a good CGPA. We hear that the junior BBA batch (2025 onwards) has transitioned to a 4-year duration, likely incorporating NEP 2020 guidelines, which is a major positive and adds value to the degree.

Other: The annual tuition fee is only Rs. 65,000, plus a minor is Rs. 2,500 exam registration fee per semester. It makes the overall cost significantly lower than other private colleges. Placements: Here, placement is not so good, you have to develop your skills and maintain a good grade for your placement, but your certificate, which you will get from the college, has topmost priority if you go for an off-campus job. Hence, your grade and skill matter for your job.
