Life at St. Xavier's – all you need to know.
Placements: SXC offers a wide range of placement opportunities. Recruiters from the Big Four companies, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, and other MNCs coming for placements every year. The college has a dedicated placement cell that ensures all events are smoothly conducted. Along with this, the college’s brand value facilitates corporate exposure and job growth.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well-equipped with projectors used for lectures. The library is up to date with all the latest books available. SXC’s hostels provide all amenities, with running water supply and food, creating a very student-friendly environment. Alongside, the college’s labs are extremely well-maintained.
Faculty: SXC, as an autonomous college, has a competitive educational curriculum. Exams are quite frequent, with attendance being an important criterion for appearing for them. The course is extremely comprehensive. It is relevant to the present world, job-oriented. They also provides ample room for the overall development of students.
Other: SXC is known for its campus life. It is always a buzz with excitement. There are numerous societies a student can join and participate in events throughout the year. This provides ample networking opportunities. This allows students to gain real, hands-on experience of how the corporate world functions.

Good networking opportunities and exposure.
Placements: Percentage of students placed was not that great. But some of my friends got really nice placements from college in very good companies. 20 LPA - 25 LPA package was offered to them last year. A well-dedicated placement cell looks after all of this.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college was fine. There was a well-established air-conditioned library, two canteens, three-four lab rooms, and some of the classrooms were air-conditioned. The quality of the food provided by the canteen was average. Not much options were present.
Faculty: Teachers at the college were welcoming. They were qualified and knowledgeable. The course curriculum provided by the college was mostly relevant and provided you with brief industry insights. Semester exams were not difficult. Passing percentage was good.
Other: I am pursuing CA and most of the syllabus of this course was similar to my CA syllabus, it was easier to do along with CA. There were a lot of events held by the societies (speaker sessions, standups, debates). Xavotsav is the college fest that takes place every year.

It is bearable if you have friends.
Placements: There is a dedicated placement cell for students that assists them with placements. There are great internship opportunities, and a large number of students are placed through campus placements. The placement percentage differs from course to course.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, libraries, canteen, and different grounds for different sports are very well maintained. However, there is a water supply issue sometimes, which is adjustable. A big issue is no ACs, which causes students to not fully concentrate in class and remain distracted because of the heat.
Faculty: Teachers are generally super nice (though there are a few exceptions). They are qualified, knowledgeable, and understand students and their problems. All doubts are solved without any hesitation. The curriculum is relevant and necessary for students to gain knowledge in those fields. The semester examinations are moderate to tough, but most students pass.
Other: St. Xavier's College Kolkata has a good reputation and is ranked 6th among colleges in India according to the NIRF rankings of 2024. Faculty is good, and the library is excellent, beyond expectations. It has all kinds of resources for all types of courses, along with reading rooms. Things I wish could be improved are that maybe a few teachers should also explain what they are just reading from the PPT. Having only one fest a year seems too few and less exciting for a college. Even schools have more events than this college.

Absolutely satisfied. It is one of the best colleges for commerce students in or outside Kolkata.
Placements: St. Xavier's College Kolkata is known for its vast placement opportunities. In my course, 70% of students who sat in placements got placed last year (2024). The highest package is 24 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA and the lowest package is 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Deloitte, PwC, JP Morgan, McKinsey, etc. 70% of students got internships in my course. Top roles offered are business analyst, marketing operation head, product manager, etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel has a lot of facilities including food. Dorms are very well-cleaned and furnished. Beds are really comfortable. Wi-Fi is available, and there's another room for students to watch television, etc. The quality of food is average in the mess and canteen. Sports and games facilities are also top-notch. The college as well as hostel grounds are very wide for students to practice. Summarising, it is very well set up.
Faculty: At SXC, teachers are very helpful and they focus on particular students not just the bright ones. They are qualified and knowledgeable. Some of them are from BITS Pilani, IIM Calcutta, etc. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant as it teaches everything from the accounting point of view to English for business communication. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not difficult and it is easy to crack if students follow class lectures diligently.
Other: I chose this course because I am drawn to concepts of marketing and finance. The best thing about B.Com is that it can yield us various jobs and it opens opportunities in various sectors. The course can be better if the syllabus is more market trend-oriented. Events, fest, campus crowd, connectivity, surroundings, scholarship, extracurricular activities, and everything is top-notch at SXC.

St. Xavier's College - a walk-through.
Placements: More than 100 companies visit our campus for placements. Top companies include Big 4 and many others hire students from the college. Internships are available for students of all years for various job roles. I highly recommend creating an account on the college's placement cell website, where all the new updates for new internships are posted.
Infrastructure: The library provides a perfect environment for study. The hostel is disciplined and hygienic. Mess food is vegetarian-friendly. The green benches are the area where memories are made. There are multiple halls and auditoriums for various events. Additionally, there is a cyber room, Joris Corners where all stationery items can be bought, and so many more rooms are available.
Faculty: Professors are very helpful and experienced. There are 2 exams for a semester, CIA and the end-semester exam. The college curriculum slightly aligns with the CA syllabus, so CA students have an edge. Notes are provided in class or will be circulated. There's no need to worry about exam notes.

Latest Cut-offs are higher than last year by 1.5-2% in all subjects. In BCom, the latest cut-off for students of ISC is 92.5% ,CBSE is 94.5% and HS 80% in the morning sessions. In BCom evening, it is 93% for ISC students, 95.5% for CBSE and 82% for HS.
