All you need to know about Manipal University rankings and accreditation

Founded in 1953, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (formerly known as Manipal University) is one of the ten private institutions of India which have been awarded the ‘Institute of Eminence' status by the HRD Ministry, Government of India. It offers over 350 programmes in 31 disciplines covering Science, Humanities, Commerce and many other fields. They have been consistently ranked highly in various rankings. The campus in Manipal is spread over 600 acres and they have just a little under 20,000 students enrolled in their programmes. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission India and with world-class facilities available on campus, it is one of the top choices for students to pursue their degree in India.

Top MAHE Rankings

1. NIRF: The University has climbed the ladder in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings in the past few years. NIRF Rankings is a method used by Union Ministry of Education to rank colleges in India. Manipal University has climbed from Rank 32 in 2016 to the eighth spot in 2020, beating top universities like Delhi University. The University has performed exceptionally well in the parameters, such as Graduation Outcomes and teaching, learning and resources.

2. QS World University: Manipal University has also performed well in the QS World University Rankings, one of the most definitive university rankings in the world. It has improved its ranking from #751-800 last year to #701-750 in 2020. It has performed even better in subject-wise rankings. Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences was in the #201-250 range in Pharmacy and Kasturba Medical College, Manipal was ranked in the 351-400 range in Medicine. Moreover, Manipal University is among the top 120 universities in the BRICS countries in the QS World University Rankings.

3. Other Rankings: It has also been ranked among the top five private engineering colleges in India and has been rated an A+ category institute by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development India. It has also been ranked fourth in BioSpectrum Top 20 survey recognising it as one of the top Biotechnology schools in India.

Manipal Institute of Management is accredited with 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certification under TUV Rheinland Group and an active member of All India Management Association (AIMA) and Association of Indian Management Schools.

The University is affiliated with four other universities in India namely, Karnataka University, Mysore University, Mangalore University, and Visvesvaraya Technological University. 

It also has collaborations with various foreign universities across the world for practice school as well as student exchange programmes with some notable names being Queensland University of Technology- Australia, Hochschule Bremen- University for Applied Science - Germany, etc.

It is also affiliated with the Medical Council of India, the Association of Indian Universities, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Manipal University also conducts research projects in collaboration with various colleges throughout the world. Their budget for research was Rs 15 million towards funding innovation.
