Admission to BDes at NIFT Chennai is solely entrance-based i.e. - The National Institute of Technology (NIFT), which will be  conducting the written exams for NIFT 2024 tentatively in the 1st week of February 2024. For aspiring candidates, it’s mandatory to qualify for the written exam along with the situation test comprising different rounds. NIFT Chennai selects students based on the weightage of different parameters in each selection round. Joining NIFT Chennai's BDes programme without entrance exam doesn't seem like a possibility. As per the Institution's admission guidelines, candidates must appear for the qualify The National Institute of Technology (NIFT) exam. The exam is conducted once every year and has TWO parts:

  • Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT. 
  • Situation Test/ Personal Interview - B.Des candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test.

Q:   Who is eligible for BDes at NIFT Chennai fashion design course?
A: 

Candidates who have twelve years of school education with minimum of five subjects by the National Open School or from a recognised board are eligible for the BDes at NIFT Chennai. Additionally, as per the Institution's guidelines, candidate's maximum age should be less than 24 years (5 years relaxation in upper age for people from reserved categories). Now candidates are only required to appear for the NIFT entrance exam for BDes admission.
