TIET Counselling 2026 has concluded. The second round closing rank was most competitive for Electronics & Computer Engineering with a JEE Main rank of 39069 (97.53 percentile) for General All India category. Thapar University does not release cutoff after second round. The counselling after second round transitions from automated online rounds to live interactive counselling. Thapar University Counselling is conducted every year for its BE/ BTech programmes. The counselling usually starts in May in online mode.

Thapar University Counselling Eligibility Criteria: BE/ BTech

Candidates need to meet specific criteria to participate in TIET Counselling. Aspirants can check below the eligibility criteria in detail:

• Pass Class 12 or equivalent examination with at least 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST candidates) in three subjects-Physics, Mathematics and one out of Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subject
• Must appear in JEE Main conducted in the admission year
• Possess a good moral chracter
• Citizen of India

How to Register for BE/ BTech Thapar University Counselling?

Candidates after the release of Class 12 and JEE Main scores must apply for counselling. The application fee is INR 1,500-INR 2,000 depending on the date of filling out the form. Check below the steps to apply:

• Click on the registration link.
• Sign up and verify account.
• Fill out the details and pay the registration fees.
• Provide branch preference and submit the form.

Thapar University Counselling: Documents Required for BE/ BTech

Candidates must bring following original certificates and a set of attested copies of all certificates for BTech admission. Check below the documents list:

• Class 12/ diploma DMC
• Matriculation/ Higher Secondary Certificate showing Date of Birth 
• Result Card and Admit Card of JEE Main exam

Thapar University Counselling Process: BE/ BTech

TIET conducts four to five rounds of counselling depending on the availability of seats. The allocation of branch is as per the category-wise availability of seats and branch preference filled in the form. Check below the complete counselling process:

1. Counselling Registration: Candidate have to visit the admission portal and register for counselling. They need to provide college and course preference. 

2. Seat Allotment: Candidates are allotted branch on the day of the counselling based on their rank, availability of seats and their preference. 

• On-roll candidates (ORC) are then ones who have deposited full fees and not withdrawn their seats. Candidates-Not-on-Roll (CNOR) are those who have withdrawn their seats after depositing the full fee. While allotting branch/discipline in the online rounds of counselling, only ORC candidates who have not offered seats are considered in all subsequent list based on their merit.
• ORC candidates, if satisfied with the branch and do not wish to go for upgradation can op to freeze the choice. They will then not be considered for further rounds. 

3. Admission Confirmation: Thapar University admission offered in BTech is provisional only. It will be considered only of the candidate meets all the eligibility conditions. They also need to pay the TIET fees to confirm their seat. In case the seat remains vacant, TIET may publish further lists.

Thapar University Seat Allotment for BE/ BTech

TIET allots seats in BE/ BTech based on Class 12 merit and JEE Main rank of the candidates. The seats are allotted after every round of counselling. 50% of seats are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from outside Punjab. There are a total of 1224 seats in BE/ BTech for General category students from outside punjab. For students within punjab, there are 1017 seats. 

Thapar University Counselling Cutoff 2026 for BE/ BTech

TIET has released the JEE Main cutoff for 2026 first and second counselling rounds. After this, the seats are allotted based on rank via interactive live sessions conducted by TIET. Thapar University counselling second round cutoff 2026 was least competitive for Electrical & Computer Engineering with 55744 JEE Main rank (96.68 percentile) for General All India category. The second round JEE Main rank was most competitive for Electronics & Computer Engineering with 39069 (97.53 percentile).

Thapar University International Engineering Programs Counselling

TIET conducts separate counselling for International Engineering Programs (IEP) offered with partner universities. After completing two-years in TIET, students are transfered to partner universities for third and four-year. The counselling is conducted online on zoom platform as well as in offline modes. Students have to register to participate in counselling. It is usually conducted in May. 

Thapar University Counselling for Diploma Courses

TIET conducts counselling round for diploma courses from June. Aspirants are allotted seat based on their merit. Selected candidates have to complete document verification and fee payment to complete the process. Aspirants need to submit below documents:

• Date of birth certificate
• Class 10 detailed marksheet certificate (original)
• Admit card for board
• Character Certificate issued by institution last attended
• Study gap proof (if applicable)
• 5 passportsize photographs
• Category Ceritifcate (if applicable)
