When it comes to applying for the JEE Mains exam, candidates have to complete several steps. The JEE application process comprises registration, form-filling, uploading documents and fee payment. Now the JEE Mains document upload is a little complicated, given the number of required documents and the varying size limit for each of them. Documents Required for JEE Mains 2026

In a latest JEE Main update, NTA has issued an advisory for candidates to get their documents updated and renewed. In the public notice dated September 29, the National Testing Agency has urged all eligible candidates to ensure accuracy in the details of their Aadhar card, UDID Card and Caste Certificate. These are not the only required documents for JEE Main 2026, but are certainly the ones that are issued by some competent authority and require several steps for updation and renewal. This is why the authorities have issued the advisory well in advance of the JEE Main registration process.

Documents Required for JEE Mains Application Form

Important Points for Uploading the JEE Mains Registration Documents

  • The candidate’s photo has to be a recent passport-size photograph, in colour 
  • The candidate’s face should cover at least 80% and should be against a white background.
  • Remember to save the file as 'Photograph' and save it in JPG/JPEG format
  • Similarly, the signature file should be named as 'Signature' and be saved in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Applicants must save the scanned copy of class X or equivalent certificate/marksheet as ‘Class-X Certificate’ and save it in a PDF file between 10 kb to 300 kb.
  • The scanned copy of PwD/PwBD certificate should be named as 'Disability Certificate' and should be a pdf between 10 kb to 300 kb.
  • It is important to upload only your photograph, signature, and certificates as mentioned above and not those of anybody else.
  • A correction facility for the required documents may not be available in the future. 
  • In case a candidate is found to have used/uploaded the photograph, signature, and certificates of someone else, then it will be treated as Unfair Means (UFM) Practices, and they will face serious consequences for these Unfair Means Practices.

Candidates also require certain documents to appear in the JEE Mains exam. These documents include:

  • JEE Main 2026 admit card
  • 2 passport-size photographs, as uploaded in the JEE Mains 2026 application form
  • Govt-issued ID proof

Marksheet and Adhaar details must be matched. So you have to approach to 10th passing school with relevant documents. The school will submit the application to CBSE regional office for correction.

No. The JEE Mains emphasizes on deep knowledge and quote challenging with negative marking whereas KCET is moderately difficult which emphasizes on direct factual questions with no negative markings.

Yes. Students with valid JEE Main scores can apply for admissions through the WBJEE counselling. However, these students will be eligible for allotment only in the 10% approved seats offered by the self-financing colleges and institutes participating in the state-level counselling.

Yes the SRMJEEE paper pattern is similar to JEE Main however, the difficulty level is not equivalent to JEE main and the question paper is adjusted to moderate level difficulty level which will be easy for most students.
