Documents Required for JEE Main 2026 Registration: The detailed list of JEE Mains registration documents is given in the official notice. Aspirants have to upload all the documents in the size and format prescribed to avoid rejection later. The JEE Main 2026 registration for session 2 will start in the last week of January 2026.

JEE Main 2026 Photo Verification Certificate for Non-Aadhaar Candidates

Those candidates who have registered for the JEE Main 2026 session 1 using ID proofs other than Aadhaar Card/DigiLocker, have to upload the Photo Verification Certificate by January 15, 2026.

NTA has sent emails to the candidates who have used any one of the following ID proofs to register for the exam:

  • PAN Card
  • Indian Passport
  • Non-Indian Passport 

Candidates who have used any of these ID cards to apply for JEE Mains, must check their JEE Main 2026 registered email id.

Where to get the Photo Verification Certificate?

"Photo Verification Certificate" is available under the respective logins of the candidates at jeemain.nta.nic.in. To download the certificate, candidates have to login using their JEE Main 2026 application number and password.

How to Submit the Photo Verification Certificate?

Candidates have to then fill in the details in the certificate, fix a recent passport-size photograph at the space provided and get it signed by any one of the following gazetted officers:

  • School/College Principal/Headmaster
  • Class-I Gazetted Officer, such as Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, SDM, DM
  • Class-I Gazetted Officer of the Indian Embassy (for NRI candidates)

Thereafter, the completed certificate should be scanned and uploaded in PDF format through the link provided under the JEE Main candidate login.

The details to be filled in the photo verification certificate are:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Name of parents
  • Class
  • School name

Very important point to note:

  • Candidates should take care that the signature of the Principal/ Headmaster should be affixed in such a manner that it appears partly on the certificate and partly on the latest photograph.
  • Candidates also have to bring a copy of this certificate to their allotted exam centre on the day of the exam, where it will be required for physical identity verification.

Aspirants must check the documents required for JEE Mains registration and keep everything ready before starting to fill the form. Early application means candidates avoid any last-minute technical glitches.

Documents Required for JEE Mains Application Form

  • Aadhar Card
  • Class 10th marksheet
  • Photograph of the examinee

  • Income certificate (if applicable)

  • UDID card (for PwD candidates)

Not all of these documents have to be uploaded. In fact, general category candidates have to skip most of these documents. However, applicants are advised to keep these documents around to fill out exact details by referring to them and avoiding any discrepancy or errors at the last moment, which happens often than you think.

How to upload the JEE Main registration documents?

Important Instructions for Uploading the JEE Mains Registration Documents

  • Do not upload blurred or dark images.
  • Remember to save the file as 'Photograph' and save it in JPG/JPEG format
  • Similarly, the signature file should be named as 'Signature' and be saved in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Applicants must save the scanned copy of class X or equivalent certificate/marksheet as ‘Class-X Certificate’ and save it in a PDF file between 10 kb to 300 kb.
  • The scanned copy of the PwD/PwBD certificate should be named as 'Disability Certificate' and should be a pdf between 10 kb to 300 kb.
  • A correction facility for the required documents may not be available in the future. 
  • Uploading wrong documents may lead to UFM penalties
  • Use an updated browser and a stable internet to avoid upload errors. 

What Happens If You Upload the Wrong Document?

Uploading another person's photograph or signature, or a tampered document, can lead to rejection of the application form. If it is discovered at a later stage that the candidate has used someone else's documents, then he/she may be disqualified for admission under NTA's UFM rules and shall be dealt with according to the rules. The correction window may not allow the document re-upload facility.

NTA has announced the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 exam date. Paper 1 exam was held on January 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, and paper 2 exam was held on January 29.

The the toughest shift of the JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam was January 23, shift 2. Also, some candidates found the JEE Main 22 Jan shift 2 exam the hardest one. The JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam was held in 10 shifts. As per many experts, JEE Main 2026 exam held in session 1 was the toughest in recent history.

Chemistry was the easiest subject and NCERT based. It was lengthy and tricky this year.

Maths was the toughest, and physics was also moderate to tough. Overall paper was lengthy, and candidates found it difficult to manage time and complete paper on time.

Yes, NTA has postponed the release of JEE Main 2026 session 1 result. The new release date for the session 1 scorecard is by February 16.

JEE Main exam is not mandatory for admission in Prestige University BTech courses. Students can apply with a valid score of other entrance exams as well. The other accepted exams are CUET/ SAT/ ACT and PU Aptitude Test.

Yes, SRM do accepts JEE Main score for admission to a few programs at certain campuses. As per the details available in the official website - "Any Candidate qualified in IIT JEE Main/SAT will be admitted directly even if the candidate doesn't take SRMJEEE."

Yes, UV Patel College of Engineering accepts JEE Main marks for taking admission in the BE/BTech courses. The college also accepts score from GUJCET exam for BTech admissions. Candidates have to undergo counselling and fill the application form of college.
