CBSE Class 10 Study Plan 2027: Complete GuideCBSE Class 10 Study Plan 2027: A clear CBSE Class 10 Study Plan 2027 helps students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) finish the syllabus on time. Most students do not fail because a subject is hard. They struggle because they start late or study without order. A plan fixes both problems. It tells you what to study, when to study it and when to revise. For the 2027 exams, CBSE has kept the same question paper design used in the last session. So students can plan without any worry. The main subjects carry 80 theory marks each. Each paper is 3 hours long. Students can check all exam details on the CBSE 10th board exam page. Below, you will find the exam overview, the two board exam system, a month-wise plan, subject-wise tips, a daily timetable and a revision plan.

Two Board Exam System for CBSE Class 10

CBSE holds two board exams for 10th Class in one year. Both exams follow the same syllabus and the same pattern. But they are not equal. Here is how the system works:

  • First exam (February): Every student must take it.

  • Second exam (May): It is optional. Students can use it to improve marks in up to three subjects.

  • Best score counts: If you take both exams, the better marks go into your final result.

  • Compartment: Students who fail in one or two subjects can clear them in the May exam.

  • Essential Repeat: Students who fail in three or more subjects cannot take the May exam.

Results come in April for the first exam and in June for the second. Students can read more on the CBSE 10th result page. So your main target should be the February exam. Treat the May exam as a backup, not as your plan.

CBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme 2026-27

Phase 1

October to November

Keep a close eye on the CBSE Date Sheet 2027 page. Once dates come, give more days to the subjects you find hard.

Subject-Wise Study Plan for CBSE 10th Board Exam

Each subject needs a different method. Use the NCERT textbook as your main book for every subject. The full chapter list is on the CBSE 10th syllabus page.

Maths (Standard and Basic)

Maths needs daily practice. Reading alone will not help.

  • Solve every NCERT example and exercise.

  • Write all formulas on one sheet. Read it every day.

  • Practise case study questions. Maths Standard has three of them, each of 4 marks.

  • Calculators are not allowed. So build speed in mental maths.

Science

The Science paper has three sections: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Give time to all three.

  • Learn Biology diagrams by drawing them, not by looking.

  • Write Chemistry equations again and again until they stick.

  • In Physics, practise numericals from electricity and light.

  • Read the reasons behind each answer. Many questions test understanding.

Social Science

Social Science has four sections of 20 marks each. Do not skip any one.

  • Make a timeline for History chapters.

  • Practise maps every week. Map questions carry 5 marks.

  • Learn key terms from Political Science and Economics.

  • Write answers within the word limit given in the paper.

English

English has 11 questions in three sections. Literature carries the most marks.

  • Read one unseen passage every day.

  • Practise letter writing and analytical paragraphs.

  • Know the theme and characters of every chapter and poem.

Hindi A and Hindi B

Hindi is scoring if you practise writing.

  • Revise grammar rules every week.

  • Practise letter, notice and essay writing.

  • Read each lesson and poem at least twice.

Daily Study Timetable for CBSE Class 10 Students

A fixed routine saves time. The table below is a suggested timetable for a school day. Change it to suit your school hours.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   When should I start following the CBSE Class 10 Study Plan 2027?
A:

Start as early as possible. If you have not started, begin now. Finish the syllabus first. Then keep at least two months for revision and paper practice before the February exam.

Q:   How many hours should a CBSE Class 10 student study daily?
A:

On school days, four to five focused hours are enough for most students. On holidays, add one full 3-hour paper. Regular study matters more than long hours.

Q:   Is the second board exam compulsory for CBSE Class 10 students?
A:

No. The second exam in May is optional. Only the first exam in February is compulsory. Students can use the May exam to improve marks in up to three subjects.

Q:   Has CBSE changed the Class 10 paper pattern for 2026-27?
A:

No. CBSE has said there is no change in the question paper design and assessment pattern for 2026-27. The official sample papers carry this note.

CBSE Class 10 Revision Plan for the Last 60 Days

The last two months decide your final score. Do not start new books now.

Follow these steps in the last 60 days:

  • Revise from your own short notes only.

  • Solve one full paper every two or three days.

  • Check your answers with the marking scheme.

  • Make a list of mistakes. Read it before every paper.

  • Give extra time to weak chapters, not to easy ones.

More tips are on the CBSE 10th preparation page.

CBSE Class 10 Preparation Tips Using Sample Papers and PYQs

Sample papers show the latest pattern. Previous year papers show the type of questions CBSE asks.

Use them in this order:

  • Start with the official sample paper of each subject.

  • Then solve previous year papers.

  • Sit for the full 3 hours. Do not take breaks.

  • Check with the marking scheme. See where you lose marks.

Students can find sample papers and old papers on the CBSE 10th question papers page.

Study Plan for CBSE Class 10 Second Board Exam

The May exam is for students who want better marks or need to clear a subject. It covers the full syllabus.

If you plan to take it:

  • Pick only the subjects where you can really improve.

  • Start revision soon after the first exam result.

  • Focus on the questions where you lost marks in February.

  • Solve at least two full papers for each chosen subject.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During Board Exam Preparation

Small mistakes can cost big marks. Watch out for these:

  • Studying only favourite subjects.

  • Leaving maps and diagrams for the last week.

  • Reading answers but never writing them.

  • Using too many books. Stick to NCERT and a few practice books from the CBSE 10th books page.

  • Staying up late before the exam.

A pre-matric scholarship is government financial help for students studying in Class 9 and Class 10. It is meant to stop students from leaving school before the board exam. The money is not repaid.
