IIT Indore NIRF Ranking 2026: Current Standing and Ranking Trend

NIRF ranks for IIT Indore have not been released for 2026 at this point. Once released, they will be updated here. In 2025, IIT Indore NIRF Ranking overall stood at 27th which placed it at 9th position among all IITs in India. This is a higher rank than its previous 33rd rank and 11th position among IITs in 2024. IIT Indore's ranking in 2025 surpassed its 2023 rank of 28th in the same category, making it the best ranking it has secured since 2021.

A similar ranking trend was seen in IIT Indore NIRF Ranking engineering stood at 12 in 2025, placing it among top 10 IITs in that year. These improvements in its rankings might be directly tied to its placement record which has shown steady improvement since 2023.  Admission to the BTech programme is completely entrance exam-based, i.e., based on JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced scores. Candidates seeking admission to BTech can not get admission to IIT Indore with only the scores of JEE Main. JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling is the only selection criteria followed by the institute. However, to be eligible for the BTech programme, students are required to have passed their Class 12 with at least 75% aggregate with Science subjects (i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).

What is NIRF?

National Institutional Ranking Framework or NIRF in short is a ranking body created under Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2015 to rank various institutes around India. NIRF rankings are based on five major parameters which are as follows: 

  • Outreach and Inclusivity
  • Research and Professional Practice
  • Graduation Outcomes
  • Teaching, Learning & Resources
  • Peer Perception

Based on these factors, NIRF can either give a precise rank to an institute or rank them within a band of 50 ranks. Institutes are ranked under 17 categories based on these five parameters. Top NIRF ranking categories include Overall, Engineering, Medical and Management.

No, candidates cannot get FFE scholarship for BTech with MCM scholarship at IIT Indore. Students who have already got a scholarship (government or private) are not eligible for FFE scholarship.

IIT in Indore offers Foundation for Excellence (FFE) Scholarship to BTech students. To be eligible for the scholarship, Class 12 marks must be 70% and above, JEE Advanced Marks must be 152 or above and combined family income must be INR 1.80 Lacs or less per annum.
