NIT Agartala NIRF Ranking Current Position

National Institute Ranking Framework has not released its 2026 rankings at this point. Once out, they will be updated here. In 2025, National Institute of Technology Agartala NIRF Ranking stood in the band of 101-150 for Engineering category. This is a lower ranking than what it secured in 2024 which was 84th position in the same category however, this drop is relatively minor when looked with the correct perspective. National Institute of Technology Agartala placements included INR 52 LPA and INR 14.72 LPA as highest and average packages for CSE branch. It was also the only institute of Tripura that was ranked within top 300 of Engineering category by NIRF in 2025.

National Institute of Technology Agartala ranking has been fluctuating heavily across multiple years. NIRF has generally ranked this institute between 70 and 92 since 2018. NIT Agartala vs Other Engineering Institutes

Despite the drop in NIRF rank of NIT Agartala, it is still rated as the best engineering institute in Tripura. NIRF ranking 2025 only shows National Institute of Technology Agartala within the top 300 engineering institute in India which is from Tripura. However, its ranking compared to other NITs has placed it outside the top 15 in 2025. It was within the top 15 until this year.

How NIT Agartala NIRF Ranking Affects Student Decision

NIT Agartala ranking is one of the major factors for engineering students to take an admission decision. If a student is looking for the best engineering institute in Tripura, there is no better option than NIT Agartala at this point. However, comparisons with other engineering institutes should not be based solely on an institute's ranking. Candidates are advised to also consider other factors such as National Institute of Technology Agartala fees, courses offered, location, infrastructure, faculty, placements, etc. before choosing a suitable institute. The minimal change seen in rankings should not be a major factor affecting a student's decision.

NIT Agartala Courses: UG, PG and Doctoral 

There seven courses offered at NIT Agartala across UG, PG and Doctoral level. There are two courses BS and BTech which are offered on UG level, four courses MBA, MTech, MSc and MCA on UG level and one course PhD on Doctoral level. Out of all these courses, BTech is the flagship National Institute of Technology Agartala course. NIT Agartala Admission Process

NIT Agartala admissions are entrance based which are conducted on national level. Candidates are selected during JoSAA or CSAB counselling for all UG level courses while CCMT and CCMN are conducted for MTech and MSc admissions respectively. Established in 2015, National Institutional Ranking Framework is a body created by Ministry of Human Resource Development to rank institutes around India. This body ranks institutes under 17 categories based on five major parameters which are as follows:
