The final selection is based on Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process. The institute-specific qualifying cutoff is announced after the declaration of JEE Main results to manage the seat allotment process.

The cutoff trend for BTech at NIT Agartala has been decreasing in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for BTech. under the General category for all India quota was 93695. In 2022, it decreased to 81386. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 128982 to 90742 for OBC, 202960 to 180959 for SC, 328777 to 279342 for ST, 155572 to 92643 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

The JEE Main Round 8 Closing Rank (General-All India) 2022 for Computer Science and Engineering branch was 22280. Moreover,  for Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering, it was 30921, and 45943. For detailed information, candidates can visit the official website.

According to the NIRF report for 2022 and available data, the placement at NIT Agartala for B.Tech. Is as follows: 1. The average salary package offered to B.Tech graduates is around INR 7 LPA. 2. Around 525 students out of a total of 645 students get campus placement in various companies in the 2021 batch. 3. The graduates have been placed in companies like ALSTOM, Larsen & Toubro, and Capgemini. 4. Some of the students preferred higher studies like MS and PhDs from foreign institutions. 5. The branches like ECE and CSE have been close to 100% in recent years at NIT Agartala.
