June 18, 2024: Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) now offers first-year students merit-based admissions under the Management Quota. This initiative aims to support economically disadvantaged bright students and help them achieve their dreams. Chennai Institute of Technology 2024 registrations for admission under the Management quota are currently ongoing. The last date to apply is Jun 30.
Candidates interested in admission must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria, i.e., at least 180 cutoff marks in Class 12 (PCM) OR a minimum of 85 percentile in JEE Mains. Eligible candidates will further be evaluated based on the below-mentioned criteria:
- Written Test (physical mode): Registered students need to take an MCQ test that is conducted to assess students' problem-solving skills.
- Interview: Students shortlisted based on performance in the written test need to take part in the interview round. This selection round is conducted to evaluate communication skills and confidence levels.

September 12, 2022: Every year on the occasion of Teacher's Day, the All India Council for Technical Education honours the top teachers at the national level in an effort to motivate them to keep up with the rapidly evolving requirements of higher education on a global scale and thereby contribute effectively to the knowledge economy.
About 14 faculty members were chosen this year by the All India Council for Technical Education following a three-phase evaluation by a group of esteemed professionals. The rating was focused on each person's contribution to quality in instruction, institutional leadership, innovation, and creativity. The prizes went to two teachers from Tamil Nadu who teach at engineering colleges. In that, Dr Dhinakaran, Dean (R&D), Chennai Institute of Technology, was chosen, and he was presented with the award by Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Honorable Minister of Education, Government of India, in the presence of Annapurna Devi, Dr Subhas Sarkar, the eminent Minister of Education for the Government of India, and Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, the head of the All India Council for Technical Education
