IIT Gandhinagar MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2024
MTech is a two-year course offered at IIT Gandhinagar in eight specialisations. Some of these specialisations include, MTech in Computer Science and Engineering, MTech in Civil Engineering, MTech in Mechanical Engineering, etc. Besides MTech, the institute also offers Work & Study MTech programmes in the same eight specialisations. Work and Study MTech is a three-year course. Admission to both MTech and Work & Study MTech is based on the GATE scores. Candidates without a GATE score can appear for a written test conducted by the institute followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round for final admission. IIT Gandhinagar MTech admission is entrance-based. Offered across eight specialisations, admission to MTech at IIT Gandhinagar is subject to a valid score obtained by students in the GATE exam. Check out the eligibility, fee and selection criteria for this below:
- Eligibility: A pass in BE/ BTech/ MSc or equivalent in appropriate branches with a minimum of 55% aggregate or 5.5 on a 10-point scale (50% aggregate for SC/ ST) OR BTech graduates from the IITs with CGPA/ CPI of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 10) are eligible to admission without GATE
- Selection: GATE/ Institute-level written test + PI

IIT Gandhinagar MTech Admission 2024: How to Apply?
All applications for IIT Gandhinagar MTech admission must be submitted online. Candidates willing to apply for more than one specialisation must submit separate application forms for each specialisation. After the successful submission of the application form, students will receive an application number and a link to download the application form. Save the application form, fill it and furnish the hard copy of this application form and self-attested copies of all the relevant documents during the interview. Incomplete applications are subject to rejection. The application fee is INR 150 for SC/ ST/ PD Category) and INR 300 for other category students. Students applying via GATE must also apply for the GATE. A step-by-step process of the GATE application is as follows:
Step- 1: Visit the official website of GATE and register.
Step- 2: Fill out the application form with relevant personal, educational, and other details in the empty fields.
Step- 3: Upload the required documents in the right size and format.
Step- 4: Pay the GATE application fee through a convenient online payment mode.
Step- 5: Accept the declaration and click on the 'Submit' button to complete the application process.

As per the unofficial online sources, IIT Gandhinagar recorded 69.39% placements of the BTech CSE batch 2024 till May 4, 2024. Further, the average and median package offered to BTech CSE batch 2024 stood at INR 27.73 LPA and INR 20.63 LPA, respectively. A total of 49 BTech CSE students registered for IIT Gandhinagar placements in 2024, of which 34 students were placed successfully. Additionally, the average and median package offered to MTech CSE batch 2024 stood at INR 21.05 LPA and INR 19.5 LPA, respectively. A total of 28 MTech CSE students registered for IIT Gandhinagar placements in 2024, of which 16 students were placed in reputed companies.
Moreover, the latest media reports reveal that the overall average package offered during IIT Gandhinagar placements in 2024 stood at INR 18.20 LPA. Further, 398 students registered for the placements in 2024, of which 163 were placed in reputed companies. The median package offered during IIT Gandhinagar placements in 2024 stood at INR 14.43 LPA.
Earlier, IIT Gandhinagar has concluded its UG placements 2023 with a 76.22% placement rate.
