Students may get admission in IIT Roorkee with 80% in Class 12 as the minimum aggregate ranges between 50% to 75% in Class 12 boards. However, admissions to the programmes at IIT Roorkee are done on entrance basis. Hence, Class 12 marks are not enough. Students also need to have valid entrance test scores.
Presently, IIT Roorkee offers more than 65 UG, PG and doctoral degree courses. It awards the degree of BTech, MTech, MSc, BArch, MBA, MSc, PhD along with a couple of integrated and dual degree courses in the fields of Engineering, Science, Architecture, Management and Social Sciences. IIT Roorkee has recently introduced two new postgraduate programmes (PGP), namely- Masters in Design (Industrial Design) and Masters in Innovation Management (MIM).
To get into IIT Roorkee, students must target a maximum rank of up to 3569 for BTech admission for the OBC AI category. The rank that you require to target for a particular specialisation at IIT Roorkee would depend on the category you belong to. If you belong to the General AI category, then you must target a rank of below 2033 for Electrical Engineering, as per the last round.
If you belong to the OBC AI category, then your target should be a rank below 1012. For the SC AI and ST AI category candidates, the target rank for Electrical Engineering should be below 560 and 298, respectively.

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.
