Dissatisfied because of low placements and less value for money.
Placements: Most of the students were not placed through on-campus recruitment. Most companies came with low packages like 10,000-12,000 per month, while one or two offered 6 LPA. Mahindra and Mahindra and Madhus Garage Equipment were the top recruiters. None of the students got an internship.
Infrastructure: The facilities are well and good. There are a library and clean classrooms, but the computer labs are not up to date. The quality of food is very poor. We had basketball and football courts on campus, but they were not organized at all. Due to poor organisation, the games often got cancelled.
Faculty: Some of the teachers were helpful, and some were not. Most of them were knowledgeable for sure. Their teaching quality was poor, and they failed to cover a huge syllabus at times. The marks distribution was unfair before the last few semesters. Due to the lack of an organizer, most of the students suffered.
Other: I chose this course due to my love for the automobile and to get a job. The course is rare, so there's no saturation level. The best thing about the course is that you learn so much about automobiles. Regarding the course, practical knowledge should be provided more. There should be more extracurricular activities and less politics. The organisers must be strict.

MCKVIE - Placement Horror.
Placements: 1. 60-70% of students got placement in different companies not necessarily with respect to their departments. 2. The highest salary offered - 5.75 LPA, the lowest salary offered - 2.3 LPA, Average salary offered- 3.5 LPA 3. Mahindra & Mahindra was the top recruiter 4. Customer Relations Executive was the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: Facilities available are Wi-Fi, Library which remains open during holidays as well. Practical Labs for almost all subjects are available. Faculty members are nice and always ready to assist. College organizes different curricular activities and supports students and encourages them to participate. Hostel food is okay, and is actually located at a distance from the campus.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and almost all of them are ready to support the students as and when required. Teaching quality for some teachers can be improved and they can try to make the students more interested in studies. Course curriculum is relevant for some departments, and they imparts knowledge which can be helpful in industry.
Other: This college was the only one who gives automobile engineering degrees to the students. Fests used to gather some good crowds and all used to enjoy.

B.Tech. in Automobile Engineering - Batch of 2015

MCKV- could have been much better.
Placements: I graduated in 2015, in Automobile Engineering. MCKV being one of the only two colleges that offered Automobile Engineering was one of the main reasons to join this college. Out of a batch of 72 students, 11 got placed from campus and others had to struggle a lot to find means of bread and butter. One of the most prominent companies that visited was Mahindra & Mahindra, which was a dream company for everyone in the batch, but they hired only 4 students for the role of Customer Relationship Manager at a package of 5.10 lacs. Other companies were Tara Aig and not mention-worthy. So on an average 15% of students got placed.
Infrastructure: The classrooms and labs were good enough but could have been way better, with the latest technologies being made available in the labs. The library was really good with a lot of material available and great seating capacity. Sadly, no Wi-Fi was available in the college. Not much aware about the hostel, but as I've heard it was equally bad as any other infamous college hostel and food was really inedible. On the name of sports, we had a basketball court which would occasionally become football & cricket ground too.
Faculty: Teachers (most, not all), were the only point that made the college life good. They were really knowledgeable, helpful and qualified to prepare us for industry & life. I'm still thankful to a lot of them from the very first semester, till the end. The curriculum was not too relevant as per the modern technologies and needed up-gradation.

Overall the college is good, but has to focus on the placements.
Placements: Placements of the 2016 batch were good compared to the previous years. But after that, less number of companies came and recruited less number of students. We are expecting that placements for the 2019 batch will improve in automobile sector due to hybrid technology.
Infrastructure: The Wi-fi facility provided is quite good. Labs are not bad. Automobile and mechanical workshops are very good and full of instruments. New technologies which are essential for upcoming technology needs are also available. Faculty are supportive and eager to share knowledge with the students.
Faculty: All teachers are qualified and helpful. The lab instructor, as well as the faculty, are knowledgeable and supportive. In automobile department, all faculty members focus on providing extra knowledge about upcoming technology. I am not satisfied with the course curriculum because it consists of only old automobile concepts, no new concepts are added since 2013.

The college gives a great learning experience.
Placements: The placement of my batch was better than the previous batches. Most of my batchmates got placed in well-reputed companies with decent salary packages starting from 2 lacs per annum to 5 lacs per annum. The college has a great placement cell. The placement also depends on the students as it is on them that they have to perform well in aptitude, group discussion, and an interview.
Infrastructure: The college has all the required facilities. It has a great workshop for automobile and mechanical students to get hands-on practice and be industry ready. The college also has a great and rich library. The automobile department of the college is great, and the students get a chance to participate in national racing events like Baja Sae India.
Faculty: The faculty members of the college are well-experienced and have a lot of knowledge in their area of a subject. The course curriculum is great, and the college maintains a good balance between theory and practical or hands-on practice. The automobile department is the best in the college.

Automobile engineering in MCKV.
Placements: I'll start off by saying that, getting placed is one factor which depends on you. It doesn't matter what college you are studying in, neither does it matter how many classes you have attended. A core guy can crack an IT interview easily with little focus. Mahindra and Mahindra is the only giant core company that comes to our college with a good pay scale. Apart from this, there are other few like Bengal Tools, that does come as well, but their packages are around 2 LPA to 3 LPA, so when the campus placement begins, do not join hands with those that will shout or make scenes when companies don't place their foot in college on time. But rather, prepare yourselves for any opportunities that arrive, be it off campus or on campus drive. The situation is pretty bad in West Bengal in almost all colleges including Jalpaiguri Government College of Engineering as well. So, when opportunity knocks at the front door, you must be ready to open the door and welcome it. The luck always favours a prepared mind. All the best guys.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for this trade is pretty good. It has a decent workshop where you can implement all your ideas that keep hovering in your head. Though, I believe there is still room for improvements in the college. The workshop teachers are very friendly and cooperative, any help needed from their side is uncountable.
Faculty: The faculty members of the college are awesome when it comes to teaching. By that I mean, they know everything related to the course. One thing that I have seen lacking in them is the level of technical skills I'll explain this. There are several student-oriented events where students manufacture a vehicle be it off the road or be it a formula vehicle. So, students who are in such teams build the vehicle out of the knowledge that has passed by their seniors. The faculty has a very limited role to play here apart from inspecting the vehicle to an extent and signing off contracts or grant permission. So, I believe if the institute can hire someone who has some knowledge about this area and can share useful information regarding core industry then it would serve few of the purposes easily.
Other: The college also organises a couple of seminars, wherein they invite professors, industry sales manager, supervisor heads to share knowledge which turns out to be interesting often.

A good college with good faculty, but poor placements.
Placements: The placements are very poor. The college will not give you many chances. Just 2-3 core companies will come, and then, its all upon yourself to get placed. My experience is pathetic. Study and classes are good. The placement is not at all.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are quite good. The library is also good. The medical facilities are available. Sports and games are available, and it is up to the students to involve themselves. The laboratory is good. The canteen is expensive for mediocre students. Wi-Fi is available, but you can't use this every time.
Faculty: Doing an automobile engineering course in this college is interesting. The faculty members are good, and their teaching quality is good also. The main problem of this college is when you go for the admission, they will say you, you will definitely get a job. But, the companies they are just advertising, we do not get placements at last.
Other: The extracurricular activities such as Robotics, Vahan, Falcon racing group are interesting.

There are decent placements in the year 2016.
Placements: TCS, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra are some of the top companies which visited the college. I got placed in TCSL. 143 students appeared for aptitude, and 74 got selected in TCS. Around 35 got selected in Tech Mahindra. The average package was 3.36 LPA. The highest package was bagged by some of the finest automobile engineering students.
Infrastructure: The campus has the Wi-Fi facility. The gym is fully functional. The labs are equipped. Pure veg food is served in the college canteen. The girl's hostel is inside college campus whereas the boy's hostel is within walkable distance. The cultural fest of our college is the best in the town. I didn't find any infrastructure related issues during my tenure.
Faculty: MCKVIE has the highly qualified professors. They are friendly and helpful. They believe in interactive based teaching. We have a highly functional workshop. The faculty members are cooperative. Education and experience go hand in hand. The course curriculum was very useful.
