Review of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhubaneswar.
Placements: The placement of this campus is awesome. Different textile and apparel companies come for the placement. A minimum package of 5 lacs is expected. There are different courses to choose from. I am a Bachelor of Fashion Technology student. The other one is a bachelor of design.
Infrastructure: There are labs that you won't get on different campuses. The infrastructure is great. All rooms have AC. There is a huge library. Faculty members are very friendly. They have a fun way to teach. Subjects provided are up to date, which is required for an industry.
Faculty: Exams are normally practical based or jury ( basically viva). You are marked according to your work. Theoretical subjects are fewer. The semester exams are divided into three parts, assignment 1 of 30 marks, assignment 2 of 30 marks, and then the end term is jury.
Other: I have chosen B.Tech as my bachelor's degree as it is a blend of technology and design. We do coding. We stitch garments. There are two major festivals of life. Spectrum, the annual fest and converge inter-gift competition.

It is the best platform to show your creativity.
Placements: NIFT has 100% centralised placements. Students can apply for on-campus and off-campus placements. Top recruiting companies include Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail, Puma, Shahi Exports, Myntra, Arvind, Landmark Group, Laguna Clothing, Nykaa Fashion, Epic Group, etc. The various roles offered are product management, category management, merchandising, marketing, industrial engineering, operations, fashion consultancy, etc. The lowest salary package is 3 LPA, and the highest is 15 LPA. Everyone in this course has to do a compulsory internship for a period of 6 months, i.e., a 2-month apparel internship in the 6th semester and a 4-month graduation project in the 8th semester. Students can convert their internships to PPOs.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is amazing, spacious, and has all the available resources. Each classroom is designed to accommodate a batch of 30 to 40 students. The resource centre (library) has all sorts of informative journals, books, and magazines on different courses like design, technology, management, etc. The labs are well equipped with all the latest machinery. Hostels are only provided for female students, but there are plenty of PGs and apartments nearby. Hostels have Wi-Fi, washing machines, good food, clean mess halls, and washrooms. Medical facilities can be availed of as per the needs of the student. Various sports, games, and the gym help students to stay fit.
Faculty: The curriculum is very relevant and caters to industrial needs. The course is diversified and lets you choose different inter-disciplinary majors and minors along with general electives of your choice while deepening specialisation in your own course. There are fewer written exams and more presentation-based exams. They are referred to as juries. The juries are different from regular written exams and allow you to gain confidence through your presentation skills. The passing percentage is 50%. Teachers are helpful and have good industrial exposure. They give research-based assignments and projects that can help you to understand things from a deep and wider perspective.
Other: Our annual event is Spectrum. There are other wonderful events. The surroundings are pretty good. It is the posh area of Bhubaneswar. Zomato, Swiggy, and other apps are very efficient and functional here.

Not a star in terms of faculty, love the infrastructure of the classes, huge classes.
Placements: 80% of the people are placed and some of the top companies of accessory design are future group, landmark group, godrej, pepper fry, Omaliving. They were offered positions as designers and junior designers. There package vary from 4 lpa to 9 lpa and due to Corona there was no placement 2020 so now students can apply for 2020 and 2021.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good according to me, the library is well facilitated and hostel is the capacity of 2 and is well maintained, we have common wash rooms and the hostel has a play ground and food is fine, we have 24 hrs medical facilities and a gym.
Faculty: The teachers are quite helpful and always behind us but there are some faculty members who are not really knowledgeable we have mentors who access us and help us out to get going in the career, we have jury for every semester and it depends on what we did the whole semester which not something like what we do in exams we cant just work the previous night and get things done here. This course make us industrial ready because if how it is contained and designed .
Other: If you are some one who love somethings different from what regular people do it is for you, creativity is always the key, I think the fees is quite a bit lot for a lot of people and the events, fests and are always over the top.

On Cutoffs
Q:   How students check the National Institute of Fashion Technology Bhubaneswar cutoff marks?
A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, National Institute of fashion Technology at Bhubaneswar was established in the year 2010. N I f t is headquarter in New Delhi and it has 18 campuses including the one at Bhubaneswar across India. It conducts plenty of courses ranging from certificate to undergraduate to post graduate and even PhD. It contacts only one examination for admission to any of its 18 campuses. In all these campuses the admission process is centralised. As per Government of India's policy reservations are provided to various categories of students including horizontal reservations. In few of these centres some of the seats are reserved for the domiciles of that state and reservation amongst these seats will be as per the policies of that state. As one can expect, this is a mind boggling matrix with varieties of vacancies in different categories and consequently different cutoffs. It is not feasible to give all the details in this as it runs into a number of pages. However any interested student can find the details after visiting the official website of NIFT. Over and above this, data of past years is available in downloadable format on the official website of NIFT.

Even during the admission process, as it undergoes various rounds, NIFT updates this on its website and students are expected to follow this and not depend on any other type of communication.

Best wishes to you.

Q:   How do students get selected for B.Des and what is the minimum percentile required?
A:

The selection process for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme in India typically involves a comprehensive evaluation of candidates' skills, aptitude, and creativity. While the process may differ among institutions, here's a general overview:

  1. Entrance Exams: Many design institutes, including premier ones like the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), conduct entrance examinations. These exams assess candidates' aptitude in design, creativity, logical reasoning, general awareness, and other relevant areas. The NIFT Entrance Exam evaluates applicants through the General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT), and Situation Test.

  2. Portfolio Review: Institutes often require candidates to submit a portfolio showcasing their creative work, design projects, sketches, artwork, or any other relevant projects that demonstrate their artistic skills and design abilities. This portfolio is evaluated to understand the candidate's creative potential and thought process.

  3. Interviews/Situation Test: Shortlisted candidates might undergo interviews or situation tests where they are assessed on their knowledge, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and suitability for the program.

  4. Academic Performance: Previous academic records, particularly in the qualifying examination (e.g., Class 12 or equivalent), may also play a role in the selection process. Some institutions set minimum academic requirements, such as a certain percentage or grade cutoff.

Regarding the minimum percentile required for admission to B.Des programs, it varies across institutes and can range from approximately 70% to 90%, depending on the institution's standards, the competition level, and the specific course specialisation within the B.Des program.

Q:   What are the eligibility criteria at National Institute of Fashion Technology Bhubaneswar apart from national-level entrance exams?
A:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bhubaneswar, like other NIFT campuses, evaluates candidates based on various criteria for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Alongside national-level entrance exams, additional eligibility criteria include:

  1. Academic Qualifications: Applicants must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised board or institution. The minimum aggregate percentage required might vary based on the programme applied for, but generally, a minimum of 50% marks is necessary for undergraduate courses.

  2. Portfolio Assessment: Candidates are typically required to submit a portfolio showcasing their creative work, design projects, sketches, artwork, or any relevant projects demonstrating their artistic abilities, design sensibilities, and creativity in the field of fashion.

  3. Aptitude Test: NIFT conducts an entrance examination (such as the NIFT Entrance Exam) that evaluates candidates' aptitude, creative skills, domain-specific knowledge, and problem-solving abilities related to fashion and design. Performance in this test is a significant factor in the selection process.

  4. Interview or Situation Test: Shortlisted candidates might be further assessed through interviews or situation tests. The interview panel evaluates the candidate's suitability, passion for the field, communication skills, and understanding of fashion and design concepts.

  5. Previous Experience or Relevant Work: Any prior experience, internships, or involvement in fashion-related activities might be considered in the selection process.

It's important to note that the exact eligibility criteria and weightage given to each criterion can vary based on the specific programme and the prevailing admission guidelines set by NIFT for the academic year.
