For the academic year 2021-2022, NIT Sikkim achieved an overall placement rate of 80.84%, and all its students secured internships in renowned organizations. The basic eligibility criteria to apply for the M.Tech course at NIT Sikkim is that the candidate must have completed a BE/BTech degree in a relevant field from a recognised university or institute. Additionally, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their undergraduate degree programme. Further, the selection procedure includes GATE and CCMT exams.

As per the NIRF report 2024, a total of 31 MTech students graduated in 2023. Out of these, 20 were placed during 2023 placements. This makes the placement rate almost 65%. No, M.Tech programme isn't free at NIT Sikkim. Candidates seeking to get admission are required to pay the tuition fee which ranges between INR 1.4 lakh, the fees excludes of Eamination Fee of Semester Registration Fee,  Library Fee,  Laboratory Fee, Internet Fee, etc. However NIT Sikkim does have scholarship schemes for students. NIT Sikkim admission procedure 2025 for all the courses is different. Candidates have to apply via various national level entrance exam and central counselling to get admission into the institute. Find below NIT Sikkim admission process 2025:

• Candidates seeking admission at NIT Sikkim are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. After appearing for the respective entrance exams, candidates have to apply for the counselling process for the final seat allotment.
• For its flagship BTech course, NIT Sikkim admits students with a valid JEE Main score and are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Admission to M.Tech is done through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, PhD admission requires to appear in the Institution entrance exam and PI. Additionally, NIT Sikkim conducts IAT (Institute Admission Test),  for admission to the left-over seats from the CCMN and CCMNT counselling for MSc/MTech.
• The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies.The shortlisted candidates are then required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.

Yes, NIT Sikkim be considered a good college for engineering. The institute is an autonomous institute recognised by the UGC and approved by the AICTE. While its recent NIRF 2024 ranking places it in the 151-200 band for engineering, and its median placement packages are modest at around INR 8.50 LPA for B.Tech.
