Q:   Can I get into NIT Srinagar for civil branch or any other as my home state is Jammu and Kashmir? My percentile is 69 in JEE Main.
A:
It may be difficult for you to get admission to NIT Srinagar for the civil engineering branch with a percentile score of 69 and your SC category. However, you may have a chance of getting admission to other NITs depending on the cutoff marks for your category and the availability of seats. I would suggest checking the cutoff scores for previous years and keeping an eye on the counseling process and seat availability to make an informed decision.

Good placement in 2025, and facilities are good. Infrastructure is not upto the mark.
Placements: We can say good placement with the highest around 32 LPA, and median package is around 10 LPA - 12 LPA. Top companies are Oracle and TCS. Roles for the students are software developer and many more. In our branch, around 87% of students get placed which is a good thing.
Infrastructure: Our college has good hostel but number of students per room is 5-6 which is too much. Wi-Fi and lawns are available in the room, and they provide good connectivity. Mess food has a variety but taste is average as all the mess thing you know. Medical facilities are provided.
Faculty: Curriculum is quite good. In my branch, teachers are helpful and supportive. They have good teaching skills, excellent knowledge, and experience. The exams are also not that much difficult but you have to study from the beginning. Overall, it is good.

NIT Srinagar : A beautiful college.
Placements: I am from the mechanical engineering branch. I think nearly about 50% to 60% of students got placed from our branch, since the placement rate is good in the mechanical branch. The top roles offered are site engineer and mostly TCS hires, and other companies also come there.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good as it is one of the premier institutions in the Kashmir valley. Almost every facility is provided, be it Wi-Fi, sports, hostel, and labs. I can say everything because it is the topmost engineering college in Jammu & Kashmir and a well-established library is also available.
Faculty: Top-notch faculty are present there, and they are well qualified as well. The course curriculum is relevant as it is the national institute, so there is no problem with the course curriculum. The exams are held properly, and grades are given without any favouritism.
Other: I chose NIT Srinagar because of its location and reviews, and I do not regret my decision at all because it is a nice college.

For civil engineering, this college is not preferable because placements are not good for it.
Placements: In B.Tech Civil Engineering, only 60% of students get placement. The highest package is 19 LPA and the lowest is 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Google, Microsoft, Oracle, etc. About 70 to 75% of students get internships offered by companies. Top roles offered are structural engineering and more.
Infrastructure: The hostel rooms are below average; a single room is occupied by 5 students. Labs are good but not well-equipped; we can say they are decent. The library is very small; it can't hold more than 100 students at a time and also books are very limited. Overall, it's bad for those who are thinking that they will get space or books rather than engineering. In the hostel, the food quality is decent. The facilities like water, Wi-Fi, etc., are very bad. Medical facilities are excellent. Sports are decent here, and the college is providing very few funds for sports events.
Faculty: Teachers are good, and they are well-qualified as well as knowledgeable. Teaching quality is very good. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Exams are medium level in mid-sem, but pretty hard in end-sem, and the pass percentage is 40%.

A college worth choosing if we overlook the mess food.
Placements: In our batch, about 70% of students get placed. The highest package is 18 LPA and the lowest package is 6 LPA respectively. Oracle company recruits students. College offered internships are limited. Full stack developer, UI/UX, and data science are the top roles offered here.
Infrastructure: Library capacity for students is very low. Wi-Fi has less speed. Classrooms are good, and labs are well-developed. Hostel food is not that tasty sometimes. The canteen food is good and hygienic. We have a dedicated medical center working hard for students day and night. Sports and games are on a scale of 4 out of 10.
Faculty: Teachers here are highly qualified and dedicated to their work. They deliver quality teaching. Our college provides us with courses that make us fit for the industry. Papers are set according to what teachers have taught in class. The difficulty level of exams is moderate with a pass percentage of about 98% and even more sometimes.
Other: I chose computer science because I have been interested in this sector from an early age. I have been coding from 8th class so this branch gives me what I am passionate about. If I have to improve something in my course then it would be eliminating those subjects from the course which aren't useful in our industry. Our college provides us with frequent events fests, scholarships, and many helpful activities. These events and fests enable students to show their hidden talent and teach us team management, problem-solving, etc. So our college is full of growth opportunities.

NIT Srinagar is a good choice.
Placements: There are 80% of students placed in my college which is very good. The highest package is about 25 LPA, and the lowest package is about 6 LPA. About 90% of students got internships and companies that provide internships are TCS, Flipkart, Zerodha, Uber, etc.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our college is very good. We have separate labs for different subjects. Also, Wi-Fi is available 24X7, and we enjoyed very much here. Hostel facilities are also very good. We enjoyed a nature view from the hostel rooms are double. Mess food is also good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and highly qualified. They are very much knowledgeable, their presence of mind and teaching qualities are extraordinary. They teach us in different styles, and we acquire all of the content and enjoy it. Semester exams are above average.

NIT Srinagar review in general.
Placements: Placement rate is not good, many seniors having good CGPA do not get placement. The highest package is about 20 LPA and the lowest is 6 LPA. The average package is about 12 LPA. Sorry, but top companies don't come here. The percentage of students who got placement is also low.
Infrastructure: In general, teachers are good, but due to lack of facilities and advanced labs, they can't give their best. The library is good enough for studying but is very small. Hostels are not good; in one room, there are 5 boys, and there is total chaos and confusion the whole day. Sports, canteen, and medical care are good.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, but due to lack of facilities and advanced labs, they can't give their 100%. Classes are small, and the course curriculum is not relevant. It does not make us ready for industrial work. Furthermore, exams are too easy.
Other: I think ECE has vast and great scope in the future, which is why I chose ECE as my engineering course. There are many great things related to this course, e.g., it gives us skills about semiconductors, which is the future in general. Labs in this college are not good, so they do not make us skillful.
