Reality check you need to have before joining OUTR.

Placements: I am currently in Computer Engineering, and my branch was introduced in 2024. So, the first placements from my branch shall occur in the year 2027-28. As my branch comes under the School of Computer Sciences. The placements are almost the same as those of CSE. So, the placement statistics mentioned below are by the school. The highest package offered is 42LPA by the builder, the average package offered is 8LPA, and the lowest package offered is 3.3LPA by TCS Ninja. Some top recruiting companies for the course are Amazon, HackerRank, CISCO, HSC, MSIL, and DE Shaw. Etc. Around 75 students got on campus internship offers from these companies. Top roles offered are SDE, Associate Manager, Associate Quality Assurance Engineer, Network Engineer, etc.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi inside the college campus has a good pace, labs are well-maintained, but the library has a limited collection of resources. Lifts are available in some specific buildings only. There are two hostels for girls named KHR and KCHR. For boys, there are four, but two are under construction. Food quality in the mess is average. You get to have everything on the menu, but with average taste.

Faculty: Semester exams are not that difficult if you have studied. The professors do provide the notes, but in teaching, some are not up to mark. Studying for just a week before the exam is enough to score 8+ SGPA. Moreover, the curriculum is the same as NITs, but somewhere I feel it has not been renewed and follows the old system, and lacks the ability to deal with real-world problems.

Other: I chose this course because I want to get into the tech field. In this course, there is also a pinch of hardware subjects in the fifth and sixth semesters, which I want to explore. I wish for some better and experienced faculty in the upcoming semesters. In the first year, we were provided with some new teachers who were not that experienced and were not used to the curriculum. There are a total of 16 clubs where you can join, contribute, and follow your passion. There are two main annual cultural fests, one technical fest and some mini club fests, happening every year.
