Both sides of Odisha University of Technology and Research (Formerly CET), Bhubaneswar.
Placements: You may hope for a good placement like around 4-6 LPA from this branch, but you may face problems getting an internship in the Electronics and Communication Engineering branch because there are no such industrial areas to get that opportunity. This year, Deloitte didn't hire a single student from campus, and the reason was that their sense of dress was very poor. In the ECE branch, most jobs are offered by TCS, since TCS work with our university's placement and internship section to find new talent.
Infrastructure: No doubt, its infrastructure is developing. Like-new furnished centralised AC rooms are made for the digital manufacturing department and other departments, and we are getting AC rooms for regular lectures as well. But there are limited seats in the university hostel, which are available to the students who secure the top CGPA rank. For those who will not be able to join a university hostel, they can be admitted to nearby private hostels whose rent is approximately 40,000 per year without your food charges, or you may go for comfortable accommodation with an annual cost of around 1.5 Lacs.
Faculty: Faculty members force students to prepare for the GATE examination, as their level of teaching will beat that point. In 1st year, you may not face problems in appearing in semester exams, but from 2nd year onwards, the question level may increase to the GATE level. All the subjects, like both theory and lab classes, will be helpful for your placement.Β
Other: Our class strength is around 80, which was 60 in our previous batch. They are gradually increasing the class size but not increasing the resources, like laboratory equipment. You may face a rush during practical classes. Since the ECE branch is a core branch, your course fee will be lower than that of SSC students. Still, if you need a scholarship, you may get one. Each student can get 1 government scholarship if they are eligible for that, and the university also has a TFW scheme for economically weaker section students.

Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) - Batch of 2029

A solid government college for Architecture with great exposure and faculty members.
Placements: For the B.Arch branch, placements are very different from B.Tech. You should not expect many companies to come for on-campus recruitment like in engineering. Most students (around 60-70 percent) opt for higher studies (M.Arch) or prepare for government jobs. A few local and national architecture firms do recruit, offering roles like junior architect or designer, with average packages around 3 LPA - 4 LPA. The mandatory internship in the 8th or 9th semester is crucial, and most students secure this on their own. These internships often lead to pre-placement offers (PPOs).
Infrastructure: Architecture department has its own dedicated block. The best part is the spacious and well-lit design studios, which are essential for our work. The department also has its own library with a decent collection of architecture books and journals, though some are a bit dated. The central library is, of course, huge. Hostel facilities are good for the price. The rooms are standard, and Wi-Fi is available, though it can be slow at times. Mess food is average, like any government hostel, but it is hygienic. The campus itself is vast, green, and well-maintained.
Faculty: Faculty is a strong point. We have a good mixture of highly experienced senior professors and dynamic junior faculty. They are knowledgeable and approachable, especially during our design studio classes and the final jury evaluation. The curriculum is rigorous and follows all the Council of Architecture (CoA) guidelines. It is very hands-on and prepares you well for the practical challenges of the profession. Exams are challenging, the semester-end theory exams and the design juries are tough to clear. You have to be consistent with your work. The pass percentage is generally high, around 85-90 percent.
Other: Campus life is excellent. Since it's a large university (formerly CET), the crowd is diverse and talented, with students from all over Odisha. Campus is located in a prime area of Bhubaneswar, so connectivity to the rest of the city is not an issue. We have major annual fests like Xtasy (cultural) and Perception (techno-management). There are many student clubs for photography, art, design, dance, and technical interests. The campus surroundings are safe. There are many shops and cafes nearby. The atmosphere is great for overall development.

Genuine experience after joining Odisha University of Technology and Research.
Placements: From CSE department, around 60 to 70 percent of students get placed through campus placement in academic year 2024-25. But my department was added in 2023, so there were no placement details for my department till now. In this academic year, the highest package is offered by CISCO is around 24 LPA - 25 LPA to a student from CSE department. Average package is 6 LPA - 7 LPA. Most recruiting companies hire students as system engineer. But the negative point is that not all the students get an internship opportunity. You can get an internship on your own efforts.
Infrastructure: You can't say university has a good infrastructure because it's still a developing campus, as some of the buildings are under construction and will be completed within a year. Wi-Fi is installed all over the academic building but its range does not cover all the places in each building. In campus hostel, you will get a very bad internet speed of Wi-Fi along with your personal internet as there is heavy traffic and no telecom tower near university. You will get a much more options in games as many societies are there for games.
Faculty: After entering this university, my perception regarding faculty members changed so quickly, because here teachers are highly educated and experienced. They also help with project work if you are interested in research work. They will definitely help you to do so. But in laboratory classes, you face a shortage of equipment, and don't worry about it because university is working on it.
Other: As world is raising with artificial intelligence, the generation will be the AI era. For safe career option, I chose CSE AIML branch, although if you are looking for this college choose CSE branch instead of CSE AIML. If you are coming to this university you will enjoy a lot as a lot of fest. Events are organised in professional manner. If you are searching for scholarships, you have a lot options in government as well as in private. If you are unable to get into that university, it has its own scholarship program which is for top 20 percent of students from each department.

This is a government college.
Placements: From 3rd year itself, people start preparing for interviews in our specialized placement cell. They attend seminars, programmes, do internships in order to be both mentally and academically prepared. L&T, Accenture, TCS, Amazon, Google are some of the leading recruiters. Deloitte gave the best offer last year, which was 17.5 LPA. More than 90% students get placed every yea
Infrastructure: Hostel rooms have 2 (APJ boys hostel) or 3 (RHR boys hostel) beds per room with 1 ceiling fan and 1 tubelight. Meal menu is versatile with good quality tasty food in hostel. Students can play badminton and basketball in respective courts and cricket on grounds. Academic environment and overall environment is quite silent to have self-study. Classrooms are good. Labs are spacious and have all apparatus.
Faculty: The faculty to student ratio is 1:16, the student-faculty relationship is really understanding and cooperative. In total, there are 5 exams: 2 midterms, 2 end semester, 1 special exam. The course curriculum is firmly based on Electrical Engineering core fundamentals which helps to build the concept of Electrical Machines and Devices, power electronics devices along with transmission lines and control system. Real world application will be based on most of the theories we are learning now.

The university for students who dare.
Placements: It gives better placements in Bhubaneswar. The placement team is good and helpful. Many big companies come here and hire employees for their respective companies. Above 60% of students get placed in their dream companies and fulfill their dreams.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, but the hostel facilities can be better for the students willing to stay in the hostel. It has a separate hostel for freshers so they can be away from the seniors. There is no ragging. It has sufficient rooms and provides free Wi-Fi.
Faculty: Teachers and professors are highly qualified. Most of them have done their M.Tech from top universities of India. All of them are very supportive and helpful to the students. The semester exams help you improve, and a minimum of 75% attendance is required to appear in the exams.
Other: Nothing more, but I have to say don’t be very dependent on anyone except your faculty advisor. Be independent and don’t be lazy. Pursue what you like. You are not here to impress anyone. You are here for your own good. Be confident.

Good placements this year.
Placements: Good placements. You can get up to 6 LPA in the lowest biotech branch. The highest placement for CSE is 23 LPA, with an average of 6 LPA-7 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Deloitte, TCS, and Tata. Being a state (government) institution, OUTR is relatively affordable compared to many private colleges. Tuition & fees are reasonable, and hostel and living expenses are manageable in comparison. Many students feel that, considering the cost, the returns (in terms of placements, infrastructure improvements, etc.) are worth it.
Infrastructure: Decent campus of 100 acres. Don't expect a good college life, but the canteen food tastes good. The hostel and classrooms are decent. Some smart rooms have AC, and food quality is also 7 out of 10. Clubs, fests, and cultural activities exist, but sometimes feel limited in scale. Some students feel there should be more student engagement outside academics. Industrial exposure (site visits, real-world projects) in core branches seems less consistent.
Faculty: Faculty is good, but college life is entirely dependent on yourself. You have to study for a good CGPA. Exams are also held every two months. Many students report that semester exams are moderate to somewhat difficult, especially in higher semesters. It's not super easy, but not extremely harsh either. If you've studied regularly, you have a good chance. Some say studying a week before is sufficient to get a good SGPA, more than 8 in many branches. That suggests the exam format is somewhat predictable, and class tests/sessional tests help.
