RGIPT MTech course admission is entrance-based. Candidates seeking admission to the programme must fill out the application form, appear for an entrance exam and finally pay the admission fees. Given below is the detailed RGIPT MTech admission process:
STEP 1: RGIPT MTech Application Process
Candidates seeking admission to the MTech programme must fill out the online application form available on the RGIPT website. Candidates must also fill out the GATE exam application form. In the online application form, candidates must provide their personal phone number and email ID for registration. Candidates must pay the non-refundable RGIPT MTech application fees of INR 500 (for General and OBC candidates) and, INR 250 (for SC, ST and, PwD category candidates) before filing of application form.
STEP 2: RGIPT MTech Selection Criteria
For the full-time regular registration category, candidates are shortlisted based on the GATE score which is valid and above the qualifying pass mark or written test or interview or on the basis of any combination of these as declared by the individual department. For admission under other categories, candidates are exempted from appearing in the written test.
STEP 3: RGIPT MTech Seat Allotment

RGIPT MTech Scholarships 2026
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology does not offer any scholarship to the MTech programme students, but financial assistance is provided in the form of Institute Assistantships to students admitted to the MTech programme under the Full Time Regular Registration Category.
Presently, assistantships at INR 12,400 per month are available for GATE-qualified candidates. Non-GATE qualified candidates, if admitted to the MTech programmes at the EIB Centre, will be provided with an Institute assistantship of INR 8,000 per month. A student shall be assigned duties up to eight hours per week by the departments to avail a teaching assistantship.
No student shall be admitted to the Full Time Regular Registration Category without Institute Assistantship, and no student can get financial assistance from more than one source at a time. There are a large number of Institute Fellowships for the MTech programme students in various disciplines.

RGIPT allows admission without CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT/CUET-PG score under two circumstances. First, you should be a company-sponsored candidate. Second, if you belong to part time registration category. You will still have to fulfil the remaining eligibility criteria.

You will not be eligible for admission as preparatory ranks are not considered under round 1. Since you have already qualified to appear for JEE (Advanced), all you need to do is meet the second criterion and apply for round 2, which will be only conducted if seats from round 1 remain vacant.

Yes, you can still get admission in Round 2 if you meet eligibility criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) and have a valid JEE (Mains) rank. Also, you must have scored 60% or above in class 12th. For SC/ST/PwD category students, 55% or above is required.

RGIPT MBA admissions 2026 are closed, and 06th March 2026 (5.00 PM) was the last date to apply. The list of candidates shortlisted for PI was visible on 10th March 2026 on the official website. Results were declared on 17th March 2026, and the fee submission last date was 30th March 2026.
