B.Sc. (Hons.) in Microbiology - Batch of 2026

B.Sc. hons microbiology in RLAC.
Placements: We are a strength of 38 students in the class. The lowest to the highest package offered in my course is 2.3 LPA and above. We are recruited for wet hands-on laboratories and in research areas for internships, at hospitals including AIIMS Delhi, etc. Top roles offered in B.Sc. hons microbiology are based on wet and dry hands-on lab work, research, CRG projects, teaching, and lab technician in hospital care facilities.
Infrastructure: Generally, DU doesn't offer hostel facilities and most of the colleges do not have this facility under DU except Shri Venkateswara College and a few on the north campus. Apart from that, facilities in the college are up to the mark. The infrastructure of the college is not much working but the department of microbiology is well-equipped and furnished with all the facilities and requirements of students. All classrooms are equipped with smartboards and smart pens. A medical room is there. We have a sport room along with a sport ground which is shared by Aryabhatta College as well.
Faculty: The faculty in B.Sc. is good and highly qualified in their respective fields. Some are passouts from University of Manchester, and others from JNU, Delhi University, IITs, and other renowned institutions across India and abroad. They teach us using PPTs and interactive boards. Assignments and group presentations are done for our internal assessments. Semester-end examinations are moderately difficult and scores are good for each student as the teaching and learning environment is good.

Ram Lal Anand College, University of Delhi - A satisfactory experience in college and campus.
Placements: Microbiology doesn't have good placements, but there are better ones in other courses at the college. In 2024, the highest package was 13 LPA by the Indian Army for the Mathematics course. The lowest package was 60k by Growth Path Mapper, Noida. The average package is 4-5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure – free Wi-Fi is available across the campus, well-equipped labs (one of the best in Delhi University), a vibrant library, and interactive classrooms. The college doesn't have hostels, but there are plenty of PGs and flats in nearby localities, well connected with the college.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and well-experienced. The curriculum is according to NEP 2020 and has a holistic development approach. It includes skill enhancement and ability enhancement courses. Semester exams are easy to moderate. Only subjective questions are asked.
Other: The course is particularly relevant for future employment perspectives. Be it food, pharma, medicine, or environment, microbiologists are needed everywhere. Large-scale opportunities are available both in India and abroad. I know a few alumni doing internships at AIIMS Delhi, National Institute of Virology, Pune, and many more prestigious institutes. Switching to other professions after Microbiology is equally beneficial. The college has a vibrant campus, especially when it comes to events and fests. The fest called SPLENDOR is a three-day-long event, including various performances from college students and a celebrity night. Scholarships under various programs are available.

My Journey of Ram Lal Anand College.
Placements: I completed my Bachelors in microbiology from RLAC, but there was no placement in our course. Placements were offered in other courses like computer Science and management courses, but no placement occurs for microbiology students. Since we were part of the placement drive but as such no specific placement for Science students .
Infrastructure: Talking about infrastructure, almost all the classes have smart boards and are well ventilated. Library is awesome, a big Library with all required books and Wi-Fi is available in whole campus. All the departments have their respective Wi-Fi connectivity. RLAC does not have hostel facility for students and also the nearby areas are expensive like Satya niketan. It has a very big playground, and also a beautiful lawn in front of stage. It's full of greenery, the best ever campus one would ever get. Has a median connectivity with Aryabhatta College as well.
Faculty: Teachers very helpful and very caring as well, you get to make a good bond with teachers from other departments as well while being part of college societies. Teachers are very humble and also the principal sir, Dr Rakesh Sir. The course curriculum is beta to make students ready for insutrues and corporates. Semester exams are enough tough to make students ready for higher level of other exams and password percentage in our department was 100%>.
Other: I wanted to pursue microbiology from the beginning and RLAC is top microbiology college in DU. Farewell, Freshers and annual fest occurs every year, inviting the famous stars.

Review of Ram Lal Anand College, University of Delhi.
Placements: The placement cell is active. Many students got placed in this course. Placements in this field are available after a master's degree or Ph.D. in India. Internships are also offered in this course.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are not spacious. Laboratory is very good. The geology department is huge. There is a big library and the sitting arrangements are good.
Faculty: Semester exams are good. The course curriculum is relevant. The subjects are very useful and interesting. Great hands-on practice is given to students in the field of microbiology.

The college is decent enough to get a DU degree.
Placements: Usually, students do not look for internships in the microbiology field. Many students also end up changing their field of study after graduation, so a shift is seen in internships in other sectors. Companies do come here, but a hefty package can surely not be expected. It is certainly not a top-tier DU college.
Infrastructure: Although the department is neat and clean, it lacks proper space in classrooms. There are quite a few narrow and suffocating classrooms. The labs are spacious and have all the instruments. Exhaust fans need to be installed in labs. RLA does not have a hostel. Again, only a few colleges in DU offer hostels.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified (all with PhDs). Why else would DU even accept them? Well, only if they could add the ingredient of having good teaching skills. Some teachers were really good as well. But few spoil the atmosphere. Overall, if you can bond well with teachers and function according to what they like, then this is the place for you.

Our college has good campus and great faculty members.
Placements: The placement cell of our college is quite active. The highest salary package offered for undergraduate students is more than 4 LPA - 5 LPA. But initially companies hire top students as freshers on the basis of interviews.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are neat and clean with fans and enough lights. Each class has projectors and a display to ensure easy learning. The library is full of books and contains every kind of book from regional to academics and novels.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and extremely helpful. All the teachers hired are highly educated. They conduct seminars to gain knowledge. They passed out from DU and have experience of working on major projects in India or abroad. The course curriculum set by DU doesn't make students industry-ready. Semester exams are conducted very well.

It is the best department in our college.
Placements: Our college did not provide placements for microbiology students. Placements were offered to students from other courses like BMS, etc. Professors in our department helped us to get a good experience with the practical techniques required for any life science student.
Infrastructure: Classrooms were well-equipped with teaching and learning tools, but the size of classes in the department was pretty small. The Wi-Fi network helped in accessing multiple e-resources. The library had an ample number of books for all students. Our college did not provide any hostel facility for students.
Faculty: There were 3 professors in our department and 3 assistant professors. All of them were highly qualified and were actively involved in research activities. Two research labs in the department had been designed to entertain the needs of a Ph.D. scholar. The curriculum was revised regularly and was under the CSIR NET syllabus. Students had studied the previous year's question paper and passed exams. The lab staff was very helpful.
Other: Our college has good metro connectivity. Our college organises a fest every year, and different departments also conduct their departmental fests, which not only involve invited lectures but eminent speakers and also many entertaining games.

Satisfied with the course and faculties. Not so good placement. But overall infrastructure is nice.
Placements: Placement is something every student looks for while applying to any particular University or college. But, talking specifically about my course. The placements are not very good. But yes, it depends upon your workshops/seminars/projects you have attended which makes easier for your application and enhance your CV.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good. Ram Lal Anand is one of the best college when it comes to microbiology. Labs are well maintained, they have most of the equipments and devices. Classes are okay but not the one you look in movies they are smaller for our course as earlier it was lesser students comparing to my batch. But, they allot us different classes if the strength increases in case. There is availability of free Wi-Fi in whole campus. Best part is the library which I like the most. You can go anytime there if you're not willing to take classes or your class got cancelled. You can go and sit and do you own study and stuff and enjoy air conditioner room. (Most of us usually used to go there sometimes just to sit in AC). Library also allows you to issue your course books and you can return them at the end of that particular semester. Canteen is nice, it depends I guess what kind of food you're eating but we usually used to prefer Aryabhatta s canteen because they have much options and delicious meals. There is always rush in canteen so yes students must be enjoying there food. Don't know much about sports and games but yes there are different tournament that were conducted by the faculty members weather it's intercollege or intracollege. In our college other is no facility of hostel for the students. But if you're outstation student you can look for PGs near the college.
Faculty: The teachers of my course were extremely helpful and nice. They all are well qualified and experienced in their field. They always guided us if it's about selecting GE or applying for different projects or weather in lab or any other sort of issues. You can always reach out to them. The course curriculum is very much relevant, in every semester you get to know to different branches of science. Exams are not very much difficult. Just do last year question paper and you will easily score decent numbers.

Yes, Ram Lal Anand College does provide B.sc hons in microbiology. The admission process is just as same as any other DU college i.e through cutoffs. The placements are not good enough though, but the staff and faculty is very talented and will make you capable enough to stand on your own feet.
