B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics - Batch of 2024
3.2
B.Sc. Hons mathematics in SPM Delhi University .
Placements: I do not think even 10% of students got placed because most of the students opted for higher education, not jobs. But yes, many cleared the IIT JAM exam and got admission to NIT and Delhi University itself. The companies that came for placement were offering target-based jobs and 9-10 hour workdays with below 3 LPA. Although some students got internships at platforms like Chegg. But do not worry, we have the opportunity to go to any Delhi University college job fair, which almost every college organizes on the North or South Campus. Also, you may get more opportunities in other areas.
Infrastructure: No hostel is available. You have to arrange a PG or flat. PG will cost you around 8k -15k but you can search for an independent room in Paschim Vihar, Paschim Puri near Murliwala sweet. A furnished room will cost you around 5k-6k. You can share it with your friends.
Faculty: Teachers were very good and supportive. No, it does not give you industry exposure. It is a theory-based course. Internals were very easy but you will get the exact marks on the list as you got in the test except for some teachers who give grace marks. The passing percentage is 33 only.
Other: College crowd is moderate as it is basically an art college but lots of events are organized. Metro and bus both connectivity is awesome.

Completely dissatisfied because of the attendance criteria, really good infrastructure.
Placements: 100 percent of students were placed in this course. My class size is more than 100. The average package is 10000 to 20000. In my course, 1 percent of students got an internship. The students don't get information about placements at the right time. Maximum teachers are not helpful.
Infrastructure: In my college, the Wi-Fi connection is very poor. Labs are air-conditioned. But classes and halls do not have proper fans. The library is good because students can find books related to their course, novels, and many more books. The canteen is good, and the food price is affordable and tasty.
Faculty: All the teachers are helpful and qualified, but some are neither helpful nor qualified. The college exam level is tough; if any student does not study properly, then he/she could not pass in these exams. The pass percentage is 95 percent. Students should definitely check the last year's question papers; it is very helpful in university exams.
Other: I have chosen this course because Maths is my favorite subject. Some subjects in this course are easy to understand, but some subjects like complex analysis and ring theory are very difficult, and in these subjects, the maximum portion is all about theorems and corollaries.

I am satisfied with this college because of its faculty members.
Placements: Our college doesn't provide placements for B.Sc. mathematics honors as they have gone for further studies. This course teaches many things from different perspectives, so the knowledge you gain here will help you in further studies. This college is good in all aspects.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. Our college provides us with all facilities. They provide proper Wi-Fi connections in labs and libraries. The college maintains neatness. Our college encourages students to opt for games and many other activities that help build confidence and maintain good physical health.
Faculty: Our teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes students ready for their future exams. Semester exams are moderate.
Other: Many events and fests are held in our college.

It is a great college but provides average placements.
Placements: The placement cell is inactive, and there are absolutely no placements in our course. There are nearly no internship opportunities, and we've got to look for them on our own. Placements are offered to computer science students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is fine, but the college doesn't provide any hostel facilities as of now. The new building is great, but there is no network on campus, and the Wi-Fi connection is also poor. The canteen is great and offers a variety of food items at very nominal prices.
Faculty: Faculty members are good. They are helpful. The curriculum is not relevant, and the subjects definitely aren't going to contribute to our overall development. The university exams are tough. The curriculum focuses on theories, which do not contribute to making students industry-ready.
Other: I chose this course because I want to pursue data science and analytics in the future, and math as my major and computer science as my minor will greatly contribute to learning data science. Many things could've been better if there would've been more practical knowledge than complete theory.

I am satisfied with our college and it has very good infrastructure.
Placements: Placements in our college are not so good. Not many students get placed after graduation from this college. Around 30-40% of students get placed. The average salary package offered was 2 LPA – 4 LPA. Few internships are provided but we ourselves have to look for internships.
Infrastructure: Our college has a very good infrastructure. A hostel facility is not available at our college but it is under construction. The canteen and library are the best parts of our college. Fresh, hygienic and low-priced foods are available in our canteen. Our library is very spacious and the teachers are very supportive in regard to finding books. Our college has a Wi-fi facility but the connections are not so good. Your phone's internet connection also doesn't work properly.
Faculty: Good quality education is provided in our college. Teachers are very helpful and supportive, not only in your studies but also in extra work or queries. The semester exams are not so difficult. You have to practice previous years and all that the teacher teaches in class which is more important.
Other: B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics is a very interesting subject. If you are interested in this course then only opt for it. It is more of a theory-based subject and less of a calculative one but if you study it with all your heart, you like the subject. Teachers are supportive in this regard.

It is a perfect campus which provides good knowledge. I would recommend joining it.
Placements: If you want to get placements in B.Sc. mathematics honors, you have many choices to get placements. The highest salary package offered was 5 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 2 LPA. Top-ranking companies are hiring you as freshers and give you the best experience.
Infrastructure: Every facility is provided in this college. It can be hostels, PGs and canteen. If you want anything, it is available at the lowest price. The area is too good and girls are 100% safe here. A library is also available. The campus is good.
Faculty: All the teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable. They always help you as a teacher. Semester exams are not tougher but if work hard you can beat the semester exam. Minimum 70% marks are required to get admission to this college.
Other: There is no crowd on the campus and you can study in college anywhere. It also organises events, fest, and freshers. scholarship activities and seminars are held in our college.

I am not satisfied with the crowd, and placements opportunities.
Placements: Placements opportunities are very few, and not many students have been placed through this course. Companies like Wipro, etc., hire students, but the salary packages offered are very low. Around 5-10% of students get internships through this course. The top roles like subject matter expert, etc., are offered in this course mostly.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not much good, and there is no proper sanitation. There is a lot of network issues. Laboratories and the library are fine. Our college canteen is also fine, but classrooms are not in a good state. Wi-Fi facility is also not much good.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful, cooperative, and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is not up to the mark. The course curriculum is not much relevant as it is more theoretical-based. However, semester exams are not much difficult, and the pass percentage is around 4-5 CGPA.
Other: Events and fests are organised gradually here. The crowd is not much good. This course should be more practical based.

Our college offers affordable graduation and post-graduation courses.
Placements: The placement cell of the college is quite active and brings in full-time and part-time opportunities for students. They post them on various social media platforms such as Instagram, telegram so that most students can know about them. This year 9 students out of 60 were placed with average salaries in IT companies through campus placements and 7 through off-campus placements till now. The rest opted for either post-graduation or government jobs. Some top recruiting companies are Wipro, Jaypee, Ernst and young, and Jack and Jill. The highest salary package offered was 12 LPA, and the average salary package offered was 8 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA. About 30% of the students got internships in companies like Chegg, Jack & Jill, Zomato, Vishalakshmi Foundation, etc. Top roles one can get after graduation in mathematics honors are data analytics, data science, teacher, actuary, statistician, and financial analyst.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average in the old building but the washrooms are not well maintained. The new building is much more spacious with better facilities. SPM college has free Wi-Fi, a huge library, an amazing and spacious auditorium with a capacity of 150-180 people. The labs need some new equipment and the aged computers need to be replaced. There is a medical room and there are 2 sanitary pads machines on the campus. There was no hostel for the previous batch but a new hostel is been built near the campus that'll be available to the students next year. The best part about the college is its canteen that provides quite cheap and quality food and snacks. All the popular street food, as well as full meal and drinks, are available. They also serve Chole Bhature which is my personal favorite. There is also a gym, dance room, basketball court, tennis court, common room, art room, and music room. The college provides ample sports games like tennis, basketball, football, athletics, cricket, etc. You also get daily free medium glass orange juice if you play for a college sports team.
Faculty: There are some extremely qualified and experienced teachers in our course that do love to teach students with their full focus. But some permanent professors use their position as a pass time to earn income. But the Ed Hoc faculty is very serious in terms of getting the syllabus done. I would rate the overall teaching quality average since some are very good while some are not. Mathematics honors course is only leaned towards pure concepts so most students don't have any professional skills as much. The curriculum is also very old and unconventional. Semester exams are all same in all Delhi University colleges so they are not much difficult. Students can easily cover 6 months syllabus in a month with readings, study materials provided in the book stores, and previous year question papers. The students pass with flying colors. Many students score above 9 CGOA (in offline exams), and the pass percentage in our batch would be around 95%.
Other: I was always inclined towards mathematics and problem solving, hence I opted for this course. It is very, affordable for students to graduate from Delhi University colleges. The best thing about our course is the career scope after UG. You can go into the IT field, PG in pure Maths or Statistics operational research, MBA, finance, and banking if you wish to. Though I wish the course should be more towards applied part and it should be more into problem-solving and more computer-based subjects should be made optional with the main courses. Srijan is a good fest of the college. It is not great as other colleges of DU. Even Lakshibai and Motilal, and Ramlal have better events. Since it is a girls college you will find only girls in and around the college. The crowd is multi-cultural. There are only 8 Delhi girls out of 56 in our course, and the rest are from other states. So it's a mix of cultures. The nearest metro is about 5 min walk to Shivaji Park metro station of the green line and a 12-15 min walk to Punjab Bagh west metro station of pink line. There is a Punjab Bagh Central Market which is the hotspot for college students. The campus is situated near the huge bungalows of the local people there. There are also many PGs available but are costly as compared to other Delhi PGs due to the posh area. Scholarships for meritorious and low-income students are available. Scholarships for minority classes and northeastern students are also there. Competitions and seminars are frequently conducted.
