B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering - Batch of 2027

One can join SIRMVIT without a second thought. You'll not regret it.
Placements: The seniors of our passed-out batch claimed that the placements for the 2024-2025 batch are amazing. We saw a good number of companies visiting our campus. Overall, many students got placed in tech and non-tech companies. Placement packages annually are also a decent.
Infrastructure: Hostel facility is the best when it's about food, it is healthy and good. Wi-Fi is available on campus for every block. Labs are good and the conducting of labs are above average. Classrooms are very spacious and the campus is neat and clean with lush green environment.
Faculty: Good teaching and it depends on faculty members. But overall it's a great experience. You can enjoy the campus life since it's very spacious and full of nature. The only drawback is that there's no good transportation if you opt college bus then it's the best. Else you'll have to walk for 1km to reach the bus stop. MVIT is the best.
Other: Sir MVIT has been and is always the best college one can look for. No regret in joining my college.

Review of Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology.
Placements: Students get placements with a salary package of 5 LPA to 6 LPA. I recommend students to join this college if they are nearby this college. Placements provided are above average.
Infrastructure: Our college is very big which is spread over 135 acres with an average infrastructure. Classrooms are small and the desks are not good. Washrooms are well maintained in the admin block, electrical block, civil block, and mechanical block but the washrooms in the science block are poorly maintained. New library is under construction. Old library is big but there is no Wi-Fi facility. Canteen is small. It has a very large ground but sports are not encouraged. Students can play sports in which they are interested.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are average and have 10 to 15 years of experience. Their teaching skills are poor. They conduct 3 internals before final exams. If students study regularly, it will be easy for them to score well.
Other: I joined this college through KCET counseling. My 1st-year fee was 1 lakh, the 2nd-year fee was Rs.83,526. Hostel is affordable and charges Rs.65,000 to Rs.70,000 per year. Our college organises 2 local trips in the 2nd year. Students have to maintain 85% of attendance.

Our college is not great, but you can keep it as a standby option if you run out of options.
Placements: All of the students who qualified for minimum requirements get placed. The salary offered is less in the year 2021. When I joined, the highest salary package offered in our branch was 16 LPA, and the average salary package offered was 4 LPA. In our college, the highest salary package offered in the computer science course is 32 LPA.
Infrastructure: The hostels are good. The hostel fee is nearly Rs. 30,000, which is less than the hostel fee of nearly all colleges in Bangalore. The hostel is separate for 1st-year students from seniors, which reduces their interaction. The food served is average, and hostel maintenance is good. Students will have no other option but to join a hostel because college is far from any PG. PG near the college will be worse than hostel.
Faculty: The course curriculum is provided by VTU. Teachers in our department are good but not so great. VTU controls over 210 colleges in Karnataka. B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering is a very rare branch, and it takes only 60 student batch so classes will be efficient.
Other: I took admission to this college because I was out of options for joining other good colleges.

Review of Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology.
Placements: I am in the third year, and until now placements for telecom are good after CS. In 2018, the highest salary package was offered to a mechanical student, i.e., 27 LPA, and that was through off-campus. This college has a good reputation in Karnataka just because of its placement, especially because of our reputed placement officer. I would rate 8.1 out of 10 for placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is not that excellent. However, now, the new building and many more are under construction. The campus is well arranged and huge. There are grounds. The college is Wi-Fi enabled. Facilities like an indoor stadium, gym, etc., are available here. Boys hostel is good, but the food served in the mess is not good. The campus is ragging free. There are separate blocks for freshers. I would rate 6.5 out of 10 for infrastructure.
Faculty: Mechanical branch is for tough students and mostly boys are there. Faculty members in our college are good and knowledgeable. ECE and telecom branches have almost the same syllabus until 6th semester. The college is affiliated to VTU. It is not an autonomous college that's the only problem as exams always postponed, few holidays, and external evaluation is not good.
Other: The college is in between airport and air force base. Luckily we are able to see air show very closely by standing at the roof. As it is in outskirts, it becomes difficult for internships.

This college is the best for CS, IS, EC & civil. I prefer BMSIT to MVIT for telecommunications.
Placements: Mr Khan, the placements and training head of the college gives training to the students according to the demands of the professional world. He has maintained a good reputation for placements since a decade and known for his good relationship with recruiting companies. Telecommunications department did great in placements in the year 2017-18, with most of them in the class having an offer letter in their hands. Accenture and Wipro are the mass recruiting firms. Package ranges from 3.5 LPA to 10 LPA. Most of the companies which come for telecommunications are from IT sector.
Infrastructure: It is a huge campus with 133 acres of land, having five different blocks for men's hostel and three blocks for women, where each block can accommodate of 150-200 students. There is a big indoor stadium with a separate football and cricket ground, and around 30 acres of campus accounts for the sports ground. Recently, Jio has sponsored free Wi-Fi facilities throughout the campus. Classrooms are the only problem in the first year, but when you get into the second year, you'll get into the respective block which is well maintained. There is a separate block for the library with abundant resource facilities, and there is a huge hall on the second floor for the reference section. Currently, the college is in the process of getting affiliated to NAAC, which would be after 4-Apr-18.
Faculty: In telecommunications department, most of the faculty members have good knowledge about the subject, but a few of them just come up with notes and dictate the topics. You'll get to go to BSNL in Jayanagar for industrial visit. There are 11 faculty members and a HOD, with department intake of 60 students. 30 students are through KCET, and other 30 are through COMEDK and management. All the faculty in the department have masters in different domains in electronics and communication.
Other: One of the big inter-college fests is Kalanjali, which is conducted for 2 days, and it is scheduled in October usually. There is a department fest for telecommunications, which happens before Kalanjali and it is the second biggest fest. The crowd is amazing in MVIT, and the campus is a peaceful place. There are many other different fests conducted in the college. The scholarship is applicable for KCET student, which is provided by Karnataka government (E pass). You're eligible to get the scholarship only if you clear all the subjects in the respective year. There is scholarship from central government for which you need to have above 85% in both 10th and 12th grade.

I am satisfied with good placements and good infrastructure.
Placements: Placements for our seniors batch were pretty good. Almost 90-93% of the students got placed from the past 3-4 years. The highest salary package offered was 15 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 2.5 LPA. Companies offered engineering jobs and management jobs. About 40-50 companies visit our campus for placements every year.
Infrastructure: The campus is huge, with many blocks. There is a huge cricket ground and also football ground. There are courts for basketball, volleyball, and also an indoor court for table tennis and badminton. There is also a gym. Classrooms are spacious and can accomodate 60-70 students. Labs are well-maintained. The library has the required material, and if any books are not available, you can request them to buy. The quality of the food served in the canteen is good with a simple menu. Hostel rooms are good. A new block for boys hostel was recently built. I did not face any infrastructure related issues during my tenure at the college.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college for all the departments are good. For the telecommunication department, the faculty at the beginning of the course was good, but later the good teachers left. However, there are a few teachers who have a lot of knowledge in their field of experience. They are forced to teach some subjects with which they are not very experienced due to lack of more faculty. They teach through blackboard and also by powerpoint presentations. We have had industrial visits as well.

Sir MVIT is better than many colleges in Karnataka but doesn't stand anywhere at national level.
Placements: The placements offered are good for all the branches except civil engineering. Almost 80-85% of the eligible students in my senior batch were placed. The highest package offered by Amazon (15 lakhs per annum), Thorough good (11 lakhs per annum) the minimum package was offered around 2.5 lakhs per annum (Microland). The companies visited are TCS, Accenture, Wipro, Amazon, Kirusa, Endurance International, MindTree, Robert Bosch, Mu Sigma and CGI. Almost 40 companies visited the campus. Roles offered were assistant system engineer, software developer, decision data scientist. Less than 10% of the students got an internship. For present year, the placement has gone down, though many companies (up to 20) have visited the campus till now. More will visit in the semester.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available, but the speed is pathetic. Good quality classroom with the projector, library building is not up to the mark ( non-AC). No medical facilities in the college except a dental college ( KCDS) in the campus where students can avail the facility. Outdoor sports facility is good. Huge grounds for cricket, football and basketball court. Indoor sports facility is pathetic. Dilapidated building. The quality of the labs is good and up to the required standard. The quality of the food in the canteen is fair, but the range of food items is too less. Best infrastructure of Sir MVIT exists in hostels. Very standard hostels with a maximum accommodation of 3 people in a room, otherwise only 2, lift facility is provided in one of the hostels. Old hostels were recently renovated. No proper auditorium.
Faculty: The faculty members focused only on bookish knowledge, not on the practical application. Many teachers don't promote extracurricular activities among the students. The student to teacher ratio - 40:1. The teachers are not qualified. Most of them are associate professors with professors( PhD) in all the departments. The teaching methods are not interesting. Very few teachers command respect from the students for their teaching capabilities. Industry exposure is good. Students were taken on industrial visits. The course curricular of VTU is extremely outdated and needs urgent revision. Scheduling of exams is such that internships are possible for students.

Best place to get engineering done from. Located far from Bangalore city.
Placements: Placement is well up to the mark. There are a lot of prestigious companies for all streams of engineering, for example, IT, mechanical, electronic, civil. Percentage figures vary, but an aggregate of 70-80% placement is done on campus. Salaries start from 2.5 LPA to 4 LPA on average. Companies such as Amazon provide an average package of 20 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is facilitated with Wi-Fi features. Classrooms are maintained well every day. Digital library facility for students and staff members. Coming to the sports section, a big football play field and a cricket field, basketball court, lawn tennis court, shuttle court, table tennis room, etc.
Faculty: At least 2-3 faculty member in each branch is experienced. Teaching methods include chalk and talk and power point presentations. Great industrial exposure is provided every year according to respective branches of engineering. An R&D lab is there, which motivates many to do mini projects prior to the final semester project, with the help of faculty members.

It depends whether you are coming through ComedK or KCET. For ComedK students, it's somewhere 2 lakhs. For KCET, it is 50K.

Yes, you can come in through the management quota. Details on the college website. I'd suggest you take computer science or information science if placements are your top priority.
