NID DAT Result 2026 - The National Institute of Design is expected to release the NID DAT Prelims 2026 result in the first week of April 2026 for the B.Des programme and in the third week of February 2026 for M.Des programme. The rechecking window will also open with the release of the Prelims results for UG and PG programmes. NID DAT Prelims 2026 Result will be declared only on the official admissions website (https://admissions.nid.edu) as per the schedule announced by NID. To check the DAT Prelims result, log in to the result portal using your email ID and date of birth.
NID DAT 2026 Mains Result for B.Des is expected to be out in the third week of May 2026. Along with the result, the NID rechecking window and campus preference window will also open in the third week of May 2026.
NID DAT Mains Result for M.Des will be tentatively out in the first week of May 2026. Re-checking the window and Seat Allotment, Payment of Token Fees & Uploading of Documents will also begin with the release of the NID DAT Mains Result in the first week of May 2026.
The candidate will be allowed to apply for re-check of their results soon after the results are declared. The recheck window will be available on the NID admission portal - admissions.nid.edu.
Recheck window for the B.Des program will be open from May 16-17, wheres re-check window for M.Des will be open from May 6-7.
To apply for recheck, you need to log into the portal using your candidate credentials, pay the relevant fees and complete any othe formalities.
The results of the DAT Mains exam for the B.Des exam will be declared on May 16, 2025. Meanwhile, DAT Mains results for M.Des will be announced on May 6, 2025.

Seats that are left vacant after completion of the 1st round of allotment will be allocated in Round 2. Allotments will be made to the candidate next in the order of merit.

If there are seats left even after Round 2, then such seats will be filled by the respective NIDs in the order of merit. Allotments will be intimated via email.

The results of the DAT Prelims will include the qualifying status of the candidate. If the candidate fails to qualify in DAT Prelims, he or she will not be eligible to appear in DAT Mains.
Note that the Desing Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by the National Institute of Design (NID) has two sub-exams: DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.
Both the exams are mandatory.

NID DAT (Prelims) Scorecard - What it looks like and info it carries

The FINAL results for the B.Des program will be declared on May 16, 2025, while final results for the M.Des program will be announced on May 6, 2025.
The merit lists will be released at the time of declaration of results. The lists will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. Also, the merit list will be considered for seat allotment.
In case of B.Des candidates, candidates included in the merit list has to submit campus preferences.
M.Des candidates aren't required to submit campus preferences.
The participating institutes of NID DAT 2025 offers B. Des and M.Des courses. The B. Des programme is available at five participating NIDs and has an intake capacity of 425 seats. Meanwhile, the M.Des programme is three NIDs and has a combined intake of 347 seats.
Admission to both B. Des and M.Des courses will be through the NID DAT 2025 entrance exam. The seat allotment to the above courses wlll be based on respective merit lists which will be prepared considering weighted scores of DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.
The National Institute of Design (NID) will announce results of the DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des program on February 17, 2025.
If a candidate has any reservations against the results, he or she could apply for re-check once the recheck window opens from February 17-18, 2025.
Submission of re-check requests has to be done through the NID admission portal. Candidates who have qualified in DAT Prelims has to next appear in DAT Mains, which comprises a Studio Test and a Personal Interview.
The M.Des DAT Mains exam will be conducted from March 3- April 6, 2025.
NID DAT 2026 Result Recheck
The rechecking window for the NID DAT (Prelims) B.Des result is expected to open in the first week of April 2026 and will be available for one day. Rechecking Request for DAT Prelims for M.Des is expected to open in the third week of February 2026 from 6 PM. It will also open for one day.
Rechecking window is also there for NID Mains Exam, both for B.Des and M.Des programmes. For B.Des programme, the rechecking window is expected to open in the third week of May 2026 and for the M.Des programme, the rechecking window will open around the first week of May 2026.
NID DAT Rechecking Process
The rechecking process was restricted to:
- Whether all the answers have been marked.
- Whether there has been any mistake in the totaling of marks for each question in Part II of the answer booklet, and in transferring the marks correctly onto the first cover page of the answer booklet.
Note: The rechecking process did not involve a re-evaluation of any other aspect of the answer booklet. Candidates were required to submit a fee of INR 2,000 per discipline (expected) for their requests.
Commonly asked questions
The re-check window for the DAT Prelims was opened soon after the results were out. The candidate had to apply for re-check online.
If after the re-check, it is found that there are totalling errors or some answers have not been marked, the correction was done. In that case, the candidate was issued a new scorecard.
The candidate had to download the new scorecard online from the download portal.
If the candidate had any objections against the DAT Prelims results, they could ask for a recheck.
The NID DAT 2024 (Prelims) recheck for the M.Des programme covered the following items:

Tie-break policy for B.Des program
- Higher rank to be given to the aspirants who have secured higher marks in Part B of DAT Prelims
- If a tie still exists, then a higher rank is to be given to the aspirants who have secured higher marks in Part A of the DAT Prelims
- If the tie still exists, then both candidates will be given the same rank
Tie-break policy for the M.Des program
- A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part II/Part III).
- If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part I).
- If this still does not break the tie, then both candidates will be assigned the same rank.
NID DAT 2026 Result (Mains) - Tie-Break Policy
The following tie-break policy will be used to determine the merit ranks of candidates if they secure similar scores in DAT Mains.
Tie-break Policy for B.Des program
- A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Mains.
- If the tie persists, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate with higher marks in Stage 1 of the Design Aptitude Test.
- If the tie is still undecided, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part B.
- If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part A.
- If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in the question of the DAT Mains exam, which carries the maximum marks.
Tie-break Policy for M.Des program
- A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Mains.

NID Results 2026: Minimum Qualifying Criteria for Final Results
The National Institute of Design will release the NID DAT 2026 minimum qualifying criteria for the NID DAT 2026 Final results. - Merit list for DAT Mains - This merit list will be prepared by considering NID DAT Prelims 2026 scores. It will be used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains. This means only such candidates who are included in the list can appear in the DAT Mains.
- Final merit list of NID DAT 2026 - This list will be prepared by considering the merit rank of the candidate in NID DAT 2026 Final results. The NID DAT 2026 seat allotment is expected to be conducted by considering the final merit list. The merit lists will be released for categories such as General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD.
How will the NID DAT 2026 Final Merit List be prepared?
The National Institute of Design will release category-wise common FINAL merit lists by considering the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in DAT Mains and DAT Prelims. The NID DAT 2026 merit list was released for the Open, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the Studio Test for the B. Des program in April 2025. The Studio Test will be conducted offline. Note that B.
