NID DAT 2026 application will open soon. When filling out the form, you must upload a few documents in the proper format. If not, you won’t be able to upload them and complete the form. So, here we bring the full details of the NID DAT 2026 application documents.
The National Institute of Design will release the application form for NID DAT 2026 in the first week of September 2025 for B.Des and M.Des programmes on its official website. The NID DAT Application fee will be around INR 3,000 for all the candidates.
When applying for the exam, one of the requirements was to upload documents, including a photograph and signature. Given that there are specific requirements for uploading the documents, for instance, size and format, you simply can’t upload the document as it is. If it doesn’t meet the requirements, you have to make the adjustments and then upload it in the proper format.

The application fee of NID DAT 2026 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.
The NID DAT 2026 application form is now open.
The FINAL results for the B.Des program will be declared on May 16, 2025, while final results for the M.Des program will be announced on May 6, 2025.
The merit lists will be released at the time of declaration of results. The lists will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. Also, the merit list will be considered for seat allotment.
In case of B.Des candidates, candidates included in the merit list has to submit campus preferences.
M.Des candidates aren't required to submit campus preferences.

About NID DAT 2026 Entrance Exam
The schedule for the NID DAT 2026 exam will be released soon on the official website. The NID DAT (Prelims) 2026 exam is expected to be conducted in the first week of January, 2026. The exam is conducted in paper-and-pencil/pen format across 22 cities in the country.
The candidate can select their choice of exam city when filling out the application form. Admit cards for NID DAT will be released in the last week of December 2025.

What will happen if I don’t meet NID DAT 2025 Document specification?
The National Institute of Design has prescribed some specific requirements for uploading the NID DAT 2026 application documents. This includes the file size and format.
For instance, it is prescribed that the signature should be in JPG/JPEG format and the size should be between 50 and 200 kb. Now, if you don’t meet the requirements, say, if the file size is more than 200 kb, you will not be able to upload the document.
If you fail to upload the document, you won’t be able to move to the next stage of the NID DAT 2026 application process. So, make sure that you format the documents as per the required specifications before proceeding to fill out the application form.
NID DAT Application Form 2026 - What if I upload the Wrong documents?
- The candidate is urged to upload the correct and verifiable documents only.
- However, if the candidate indulges in forgery and uploads fake documents, he or she is liable to be disqualified. Also, criminal charges may be imposed on such candidates.
- The documents furnished by the candidate will be verified at the time of NID DAT 2026 counselling and seat allotment. If any anomaly/inconsistency is found, the candidate has to justify their actions.
Can I edit uploaded documents during NID DAT 2026 Application correction window?
The NID DAT application form is open now for 2026-2027.
To fill the form, the candidate has to follow these steps:
- Get registered - The candidate had to get registered using their email ID and mobile number.
- Log-in and fill the form - Next, fill in all the necessary sections in the form: academic, personal, and contact details. Also, select an exam centre of your choice.
- Upload documents - Follow the specified format and specification when uploading documents like photographs and signatures.
- Pay the exam fee to complete the application process. The NID DAT 2026 fee is expected to be around Rs. 3000 for open, and Rs. 1500 for reserved-category candidates. A late fee of 50% more than can be charged by NID for registration if the application forms are not filled out after the deadline.
While filling out the NID application form, candidates have to enter their personal, academic, and personal information. They are also required to upload a photograph and signature, and caste Certificate if applicable. In case of candidates seeking admission under reserved categories, they also need to upload a category Certificate. PwD category candidates will also have to upload the relevant Certificate.
The category and PwD certificates should be in PDF format and max 2 MB.
Meanwhile, the photograph and signature should in JPG/JPEG format and within 75-100 KB.
No, the date of birth cannot be changed in the NID application correction window. The candidate will also not be able to edit their name, the programme applied for admission, registered email id, and phone number, in the application form. Note that these details are entered by the candidate at the time of registering for the NID DAT exam. Among the particulars that the candidate is allowed to edit in the NID DAT application form include the exam centre, address of communication, uploaded documents, category under which admission is sought, and any other details not covered in the paragraph above. The candidate needs to go through the list of items that can be edited and that can not be edited before filling out the NID DAT application form to avoid trouble afterwards. The application edit window for NID DAT will open within a few weeks of the closure of the application form.
- Yes, the candidate can edit or upload fresh documents during the NID DAT 2026 application correction window if they have filled anything incorrectly.
- The National Institute of Design will open the NID DAT application correction 2026 option in the first week of December 2025.
- Candidates should keep in mind that they won’t be able to edit the program applied for admission, name, date of birth, email ID, and registered mobile number during the correction window.
How to apply for NID DAT 2026?
The application form for NID DAT 2026 UG and PG will open online at the NID admission portal - admissions.nid.edu.
To apply for NID DAT B.Des and M.Des Programme 2026, follow these steps:
- Get registered - You will have to SELECT the program of study, nationality, category, PwD status, DOB, name, email ID, and mobile number to get registered.
- Fill up the form - Upon registration, you need to log in to the candidate account and fill in personal, academic, and communication details. Also, select an exam city from the drop-down menu.
- Upload documents - Next, you need to upload your signature, photograph, and a few other documents.
- Pay the application fee - Finally, pay the NID DAT application fee to complete the application process.
Note that unless you duly complete the application process, the NID DAT admit card will not be issued to you.
