A major portion of the exam covers the subjects you have studied in class twelfth. An individual needs to prepare as per the previous exam pattern of COMEDK as well.

COMEDK is a state-level exam conducted by consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. COMEDK provides an opportunity to lakhs of candidates to get admission in several undergraduate courses. Around 190 colleges in the state of Karnataka have been covered under COMEDK. This is an online-mode exam which comprises multiple-choice questions. As far as the evaluation system is concerned, this exam has no negative marking.

There are three sections to prepare for this exam and each section has sixty questions. So in total, an individual needs to attempt 180 questions. Each question carries one mark. A major portion of the exam covers the subjects you have studied in class twelfth. An individual needs to prepare as per the previous exam pattern of COMEDK as well.

To prepare for COMEDK students need to have an appropriate understanding of the concepts he or she has studied in class twelfth. Like in other competitive exams, in COMEDK also relevant books play an important role. Here I would like to suggest a few books which are beneficial to qualify for the exam.

  • Chemistry for Karnataka COMEDK
  • Physics for Karnataka COMEDK
  • Biology for Karnataka COMEDK
  • Mathematics for Karnataka COMEDK
  • IIT Chemistry OP Aggarwal
  • Algebra made easy by KC Basu
  • Aptitude problems in physics by S.S. krotov
  • Maths of class XI and XII by RD Sharma

Apart from the above-mentioned books, I would like to suggest that NCERT books are the best resource to utilise for COMEDK. In today's time, online content for the required topics is also available, which can be used after checking the authenticity of the same.

Like other entrance exams for COMEDK also the competition is tough. Approximately 70,000 students appear for COMEDK every year. These students fight for 20,000 available seats. So this ratio easily depicts the gravity of competition for this exam.

Aspirants preparing for this exam are suggested that they should focus on the syllabus first. Students usually ignore the syllabus part and they directly jump to the preparation part. Some students just have a look at the syllabus but do not try to analyze the same from exam perspective. My suggestion is you study the syllabus first and content later. This way you will have a clear cut idea about the weightage and prioritisation of topics. The second suggestion from my side is you try to recognize or figure out the pattern of exam and the nature of questions in the exam. In general, I would like to emphasize that an individual would not be able to prepare without knowing the important dimensions of a competitive exam and the same goes for COMEDK.

I would also suggest not to rely completely on the external resources and try to maintain your notes. There is no better study material or content available anywhere except your notes. It helps you to revise the content more easily and efficiently. Coaching or tuition notes no doubt would help you but own notes will be comparatively better. The fourth important suggestion here is to try to do your strength and weakness analysis. This analysis will intimate you about the topics you to need to work on.

Try to create an attainable and feasible study plan and stick to it. A schedule or proper study plan helps you out to ease out your labour during the preparation session. Once you are regular and stick to your plan, you will automatically see the outcome. Please do not compare your performance, your study plan and your efforts with other students who are preparing for the same exam. You have your level of comfort and way of doing things. If you believe in competition then compete with yourself, not with others. Try to improve your self every day. What you are doing today should be better than what you have done yesterday. Likewise what you will be doing tomorrow should be better than your today's performance. Make study goals for each day. List them and prioritize them. Creating daily study targets you help you to ensure proper adherence to the decided schedule. This, in turn, will help you out to complete the task well in time and you will get appropriate time for revision.

At Lovely Professional University, you can take admission in BTech CSE through their own test called LPUNEST or based on your 12th marks.

JEE is not compulsory, but if you have a good JEE score, it can help you get admission and scholarship.
