Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) in India conduct placement drives for its students in two phases. The first phase is conducted from December's first week to the last week and the second phase is conducted from January's first week to the end of the academic year. During the placement season of different IIITs, globally renowned companies visit the IIIT campuses to recruit engineering and other graduates.
The average package of students in IIITs usually ranges from Rs 10-15 lakh per annum whereas, for other IIITs, it is between Rs 5-10 lakh per annum. The highest salary package offered in the IIITs is usually around Rs one crore annually while, in other IIITs, the annual CTC lies between Rs 10-30 lakh. Usually, the top packages offered by companies are international ones.
Top domestic and international companies Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Adobe, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Wadhwani AI, WDC, Tower Research, HSBC MathWorks, Harmon Kardon, Reliance, Samsung, and R&D, etc. visited the IIIT campuses to recruit engineering graduates for various job roles. Engineering graduates are offered various roles in different sectors and domains. Much of the demand is for profiles in the field of software development.

About IIITs
Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are the higher education institutes in India with a focus on Information Technology (IT). Five of them are established, funded and managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the rest are set up on the public-private partnership (PPP) model. IIIT Placements: Procedure
All the IIITs follow the below-mentioned step by step procedure for the placement of its students.
- The placement office of respective IIITs sends invitations to companies/organisations along with relevant information.
- Company/organisation fills in a JAF (Job Announcement Form) containing details of the job offer (pay package, location, allowances, and other bonuses). Along with the preferred dates of the campus visit.
- The duly filled JAFs are sent to respective placement cells.
- Placement office allots dates to companies for campus placement drives based on their preferences. The company/organisation confirms the dates with the placement office.
- Companies visit the campus on the allotted date/s and conduct PPT /tests and/or interviews according to their recruitment process.
- The company/organisation is required to furnish the final list of selected students on the same day of the campus visit.
- The company should hand over the duly signed hard copy of the final selection list to the placement cell.
- The purview of the Placement Cell is restricted only to the offers made as part of the campus placement process.
- The company shall provide the offer letters to the placement office and not directly to the students.
