IIT Madras hosts contest on innovative ideas for polytechnic students
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and a French multinational IT company, are hosting a contest to derive Innovative Ideas in ‘Engineering Technologies’ from students of polytechnics in Tamil Nadu. Interested students can register on csie.iitm.ac.in
The last date for submitting ideas for the competition is August 21, 2021. The competition is being coordinated by Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CSIE). CSIE is an organisation involved in teaching and research in the social enterprise sector in India.
Top two innovative ideas to bag Rs 50,000 each, mentorship
Students with the top two innovative ideas will be awarded a prize money of Rs 50,000. Further, they will also be provided mentorship by the faculty of IIT Madras and CSIE. The aim of the competition is to come up with ideas that improve the lives of artisans and farmers in the country.
While speaking about the uniqueness of the competition, Professor R Rajan, project coordinator, Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CSIE), IIT Madras, said, “An alumni-driven initiative, CSIE@IITM, focuses on promoting social and entrepreneurship through various incentives and activities.”
Students from the second and third year of polytechnic colleges will be allowed to participate in the contest. They can participate in a group of four. There is no bar to the number of groups and ideas from an institute.
IIT Madras offers various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in science and technology. It has sixteen academic departments and several interrelated departments. The institute has advised candidates to keep a tab on its official website for more details about the competition.
