IIT Madras
Diploma Programme in Virtual Reality: IIT Madras will soon start an advanced diploma programme in virtual reality which will be offered in both online and offline mode. The course will be open for anyone with an engineering background, including students currently enrolled in engineering degrees anywhere in India. The applications will be available from November 2021 and the first batch will commence from January 2022. The course will have an annual intake of 50 students.

Diplomas in Programming and Data Science: IIT Madras will offer two eight-month diploma programmes in programming and data science. Learners do not need to have an engineering or computer science background to apply for these programmes. These are open to students, working professionals and job seekers who have completed at least two years of undergraduate in any discipline. Candidates will have to appear for an entry qualifier exam. The last date to register is November 15, 2021, at the official website at diploma.iitm.ac.in. The exam will be held on December 12, 2021.
Executive MBA (EMBA) Degree Programme: IIT Madras has launched Executive MBA (EMBA) degree programme. The programme has been introduced by the Department of Management Studies. The institute began the application process from September 20, 2021, and the last date to apply is October 19, 2021. Interested candidates can apply online at https://doms.iitm.ac.in/emba/. In order to be eligible for IIT Madras EMBA, candidates must have a first-class bachelor’s degree in any discipline and a minimum of three years of industry experience. The selection of the candidates will be done through DoMS entrance examination and personal interview (virtual).
PG programme in Applied Data Science and Machine Intelligence: IIT Madras launched a PG level advanced program in Applied Data Science and Machine Intelligence. The course commenced from August 2021. The programme is designed for early career professionals keen to build careers in data science and artificial intelligence. Candidates who have passed BE/ME/BTech/MTech or an equivalent degree can apply. Early career professionals need to have five years of experience in the field to become eligible for the course. The fee for one year is INR 3 lakh.
MS program in Analog, Mixed-Signal: IIT Madras also introduced an MS programme in Analog, Mixed-Signal (AMS) and RF VLSI Design. The programme will provide a one-year classroom learning and two-year industry exposure through an internship with Texas Instruments.
Elective course in food cultures: IITM will launch an elective course titled ‘Food Cultures’ approaching the culture of food from various angles for scholars across different engineering disciplines. The course will be offered from the 2021-22 academic year. A total of 40 students would be admitted to the course in the initial year. It will be available to the UG students in all 16 departments of the institute.
IIT Delhi
BDes programme: IIT Delhi is offering four-year programme Bachelor of Design (BDes) course from 2022-23 academic year. The BDes programme will be offered by the institute’s Department of Design. Fee will same as any BTech programme at IIT Delhi and admissions will be through Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination (UCEED). The programme will begin with an intake of 20 students.
BTech in Energy Engineering: IIT Delhi has launched BTech in Energy Engineering. A total of 40 students will be selected through JEE Advanced score for the new course which will be available from the upcoming academic session. The course is being offered under the soon-to-be-established Department of Energy Science and Engineering on the IIT-Delhi campus.
Certificate course in Data Science and Machine Learning: IIT Delhi has launched six-month live online certificate programme in data science and machine learning. The last date to apply is December 1, 2021. The programme is best suited for early and mid-level professionals interested in gaining a relevant and cutting-edge perspective on data science and machine learning for better career prospects.
Master in Public Policy: IIT Delhi has introduced a PG program called ‘Master in Public Policy’ (MPP) in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy. The admissions for the two-year program will start from the 2021-22 academic year. Candidates with bachelor’s degrees such as MBBS, BA LLB (Hons), BArch, BTech, BSc (Ag), BVSc, or equivalent and postgraduate degrees such as MA, MSc, MPhil, Integrated MSc/MA, MTech or equivalent can apply. Fee for regular students will be Rs 10,000 per semester, while it will be Rs 50,000 per semester for sponsored students.
MTech in Electric Mobility: IIT Delhi will start a new PG programme, MTech in Electric Mobility, which will be available from the 2021-22 academic session. The programme will be offered by the Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART) at IIT Delhi. Applicants with a four-year bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics, Automobile, Manufacturing Science/Engineering and GATE qualified in either Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Production and Industrial Engineering (PI) disciplines will be eligible for the programme.
MTech in Machine Intelligence & Data Science (MINDS): MTech in MINDS will be a flagship programme and is expected to begin in July 2022. The curriculum will include graduate-level courses in core AI technologies like deep learning and data mining, application-oriented courses like computer vision, natural language processing, and AI for healthcare, and also fundamental courses on mathematics underlying modern AI technologies. All students with an undergraduate degree in science or engineering will be eligible for the MINDS programme.
IIT Hyderabad
BTech in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics: The four-year BTech programme in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics of IIT Hyderabad is an application-based programme and aims to produce graduates with advanced skills in both biotechnology and bioinformatics. The programme will offer unique learning and exposure to critical topics in biotechnology and bioinformatics. To further enhance job opportunities, the programme has a semester-long industrial project which will help students to gain industrial experience. The programme will begin with an initial intake of 10 students and admission will be through JEE Advanced.
BTech in Computational Engineering: In the first five semesters, the student acquires in-depth knowledge in mathematical methods, state-of-the-art numerical techniques, development of mathematical models, computer simulations, optimisation, high-performance computing, data analytics, and machine learning. In the remaining three semesters, the student can choose from a large number of electivesmto acquire knowledge that is more specialized. The electives cover a wide variety of subjects covering advanced manufacturing, structural design, process engineering, materials design, chip design and biomedical engineering.
Students of Computational Engineering will receive an interdisciplinary education where they gain expertise in state-of-the-art numerical methods and algorithms, modelling and simulations of engineering systems and processes, high-performance computing, process control, and optimisation, data analytics, and machine learning. The programme will begin with an initial intake of 10 students and admission will be through JEE Advanced.
BTech in Industrial Chemistry: IIT Hyderabad has designed the four-years BTech programme in Industrial Chemistry with particular emphasis on producing the graduates with adequate knowledge of applied chemistry and technology to work in various industries such as pharma and drug design, polymer industry, petrochemical industries, environment and energy. The course offers opportunities to develop innovation and entrepreneurship skills by close interaction with pioneers in various chemical industries. The programme will begin with an initial intake of 10 students and admission will be through JEE Advanced.
MTech and MDes courses: IIT Hyderabad has launched seven online MTech and one MDes course for working professionals. The courses began from August 2021. The seven online MTech courses are in Industrial Metallurgy, EV Technology, Computational Mechanics, Integrated Computational Materials Engineering, Communication and Signals Processing (CSP), Power Electronics and Power System (PEPS), Microelectronics and VLSI (ME & VLSI). The institute has also launched a dual degree MTech programme in Techno-Entrepreneurship for BTech students. For admission to online MTech and MDes courses, students should have passed undergraduate degree in first class with two years of work experience. Students with a four-year bachelor’s degree or a five-year integrated masters degree in arts or humanities with 55 per cent marks can also apply.
IIT Roorkee
PG Certificate Programmes in Data Science, AI, machine learning: The three PG certificate courses aim to equip learners to master deep technologies through comprehensive hands-on oriented learning. Anybody who has completed their undergraduate degree is eligible to enrol in these courses. As part of the course, learners will also be able to experience a one-week-long on-campus immersion programme on the IIT Roorkee campus.The first batch of these courses are scheduled to start on November 7, 2021. The last date for submitting applications for the courses was September 26, 2021.
MTech (Microelectronics and VLSI): The eligibility to pursue this course is a minimum of 2-year experience in VLSI or an allied industry. Applicants must also have a CGPA of 6.0 and above and a BTech. in Electronics and Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering or MSc. in Physics/Electronics. The shortlisted candidates will be selected based on an online interview.
MS (Economics): The institute has started MS Economics from this year. It is a five-year integrated programme and admission to this course will be done through JEE Advanced.
MTech (Dam Safety and Rehabilitation): The programme is open for the sponsored officers from India and abroad having two years relevant experience in dam safety, rehabilitation and other associated
areas and GATE qualified fresh engineering graduates having a valid GATE score. *The candidates applying for admission must have at least 60 per cent aggregate marks or 6 CGPA on a 10-point scale at qualifying graduation/postgraduation degree. For Indian candidates belonging to SC/ST category, the qualifying percentage is 55 per cent aggregate marks or 5.5 CGPA on a 10- point scale.
MTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: IIT Roorkee has started two new MTech programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from the 2021-22 session. The programmes were launched through the recently established Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science of the institute. The applicant must have BE/BTech/Integrated MSc or equivalent degree in any engineering course to be able to apply for the course. They must also have a CGPA of 6.0. The shortlisted candidates were selected on the basis of an online interview.
PG Programmes in Industrial Design and Innovation Management: IIT Roorkee also established a new Department of Design wherein it started two new PG programmes -- Masters in Design (Industrial Design) and Masters in Innovation Management (MIM).
IIT Kanpur
e-master programmes: IIT Kanpur has announced the launch of four new e-master programmes. The programmes are masters in communication systems, cybersecurity, power sector regulation, economics and management, and commodity markets and risk management. All four programmes are meant for professionals with two years of working experience. Interested candidates can visit the programme page https://emasters.iitk.ac.in/ to know more and apply. The candidate should have a bachelor's or master's degree with 55 per cent marks and no GATE score is required.
IIT Patna
IIT Patna has launched three new degree programmes at the undergraduate (UG) level. Admission to all three programmes will be done through JEE Advanced 2021, the results of which were declared on October 15. The institution has allocated 36 places for admission to Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, 36 for Engineering Physics and 48 for BS in Mathematics and Computer Science.
BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: The coursewill equip students to handle large volumes of data and develop AI-focused algorithms.
BTech in Engineering Physics: It is a blend of engineering, physics and mathematics.
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computing: It is is designed by combining mathematical and analytical components. The curriculum includes many elective courses from science, engineering and humanities disciplines that allow considerable flexibility and academic freedom.
IIT Kharagpur
BS programme: IIT Kharagpur has launched a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) programme from the 2021 academic session. Admissions will be done through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2021. The science and the humanities and social science (HSS) departments of IIT Kharagpur have jointly started the programme. The institute will offer BS programmes across seven subjects — applied geology, chemistry, economics, exploration geophysics, mathematics and computing, and physics.
IIT Jodhpur
BTech in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur has launched a unique BTech programme in civil and infrastructure engineering. The programme focuses on engineering design, product development, training in intellectual property and entrepreneurship. The curriculum of the new course will introduce students to a wide variety of fields in advanced civil engineering such as infrastructure planning and designing, a good knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning, smart materials and sensors, and security of infrastructure against physical and digital threats. These courses allow students to earn a specialisation in either ‘smart infrastructure’ or ‘environmental engineering’ in addition to the regular BTech.
As per IIT Dhanbad, a lot of demand is expected for new technology in the future. Keeping in mind these elective courses will be started by various departments of the institute and preparation has been started.
