Candidates should check the eligibility criteria for IIT Madras MTech admission before filling the application form. The admission will be based on the scores of GATE 2020 qualified candidates. Candidates can refer below to the eligibility criteria for IIT Madras MTech admission 2020.
Engineering Graduates from institutes other than IITs:
- Candidates must have qualified GATE 2020 and should hold a valid GATE score.
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture from institutions approved by AICTE/Government or a Master’s degree in Chemistry/Life Science/Mathematics/Physics related subjects from institutions approved by UGC/Government.
- Candidates who have obtained their degrees through Distance education/correspondence mode are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will have to attend a suitability test or interview procedure.
- Candidates in the final year of the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply.
IIT Graduates
BTech graduates from IITs with CGPA of 8.0 on a scale of 10 will be eligible for direct admission.

IIT Madras MTech Admission 2020: Steps to fill Application Form
Candidates were required to follow the given steps to fill the application form:
- Visit the official website and click on the application link
- After this, candidates were needed to fill their personal, communication and academic details
- Once all the details have been filled, candidates had to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature along with other relevant documents as per the specifications above.
- Next, candidates needed to pay the application fee online
- Finally, candidates had to submit their application and take a print of it for future reference

IIT Madras MTech Admission Procedure
The authorities will prepare a merit list of candidates qualified for admission at the IIT Madras. Candidates will know about their seat allotment result through COAP 2020 portal. Candidates will also be able to fill their choices of courses through the portal. The authorities will also conduct additional rounds of seat allotment if needed.
Candidates will be allotted seats have to report to the allotted institute and pay the admission fees within the stipulated date and time to confirm their seats. Seats of candidates who fail to report the institute on the specified date will be automatically cancelled.
