My communication skills improved and I overcame stage fright: Jeevith Urs M N
After class 10th, I was very much interested in computer science and its application in the real world and I chose that as a subject even in class 12th. I wrote KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) and I got this college which is one of the top colleges in Karnataka. Here, in National Institute of Engineering, the platform for students is huge for academic as well as cultural activities. The college has good campus and a very good environment for studies. Particularly, for my course B.E. in Information Science and Engineering, the college is providing good infrastructure, well-experienced faculties, good laboratories, etc. The library facility is at its best for the students to take utmost advantage for academic purposes and to gain knowledge about current technology.
The campus life in NIE is filled with enthusiasm and fun along with academic activities. Since 11th I had been focusing on good companies to get a job. Since NIE provides great placement opportunity for each and every student, this made me join the college. My group of friends from school has the same aim and we prepared together for NIE and cracked the entrance exam. Though all of us are in the same college, the course we chose is different. But it's an immense happy moment for all of us to be together for over 7 years and going in the same direction as a group. With friends being together we can prepare better for any exams, clarify the doubts, have lots of fun, and get a different perspective on the same thing.
As NIE is one of the top colleges in Karnataka, it's difficult to get admission in this college. During class 12th I was aiming for IITs and NIT Suratkal in Computer Science and Information Science branches, but I couldn't make it. All those efforts didn't go in vain. Finally, I got admission in one of the pre-independence colleges. NIE was established in 1946 and is the second established college in Karnataka after University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering. With such a reputation the admission process is very strict. Try to score good marks in class 12th to get admission in CS or IS branches in top engineering colleges in Karnataka including NIE.
Moreover, Mysore is one of the best cities in the country for education, climate, cleanliness and pollution. As mentioned above our group had put a lot of efforts for this particular examination which improved our individual scores in mock tests. This helped us crack the examination. I attended some of the coaching classes in Mysore and used to watch online videos regarding MCQ. My first experience in complete MCQ pattern test was KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana). Then I went for JEE Mains, JEE Advanced, KCET and COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka). Right from the first test, my performance started improving and got knowledge on how to attend MCQ tests in limited time. In the coaching classes, they taught how to attend questions from different sections, and such tips were helpful.
In NIE the students’ life is good if one plans it properly and goes in the right direction. I spend most of the time with friends. During projects, internals, exams, laboratories and in classrooms, we mostly give good performance when we friends work together and this helped us in group discussions and other interview processes. Most of our group studies not only helped in academics but also in building the projects which we highlighted in our resume. The faculties in NIE are very well experienced and the students tend to attend the classes voluntarily without force. 85% attendance in graduation is compulsory. Students can apply for leaves in an emergency. The attendance is followed very strictly in our college. The course and its outcome are very good which is close to the current technologies. The extracurricular activities like cultural, sports and art activities are encouraged utmost in our college. As a group, we are very much enthusiastic about sports as well. If we were given a chance once more, we would again want to do the same activities which we did in the 1st year of BE. We still want to make more friends which is fun. Before entering college life, we had a rough time which involved school activities only. NIE polished us in every aspect and helped us make a good approach towards technology and its developments.
I was not good at organising events but in NIE I learned that and mainly, I have overcome my stage fear. Communication skills have also improved.
Since workshops are conducted in the college regarding the latest technologies, students are very enthusiastic about participating in these workshops. I'm very much satisfied with organising such workshops which of course is a big task. I'm trying to make my best in all these kinds of extracurricular activities. If we are given one more chance we would surely like to be friendlier with faculties. Previously we were only concentrating on our placements. This was one of the wonderful experiences for me as a student of NIE.

Yes, But consider this also-
local placement is decent, teaching is decent, overall exposure/brand is Not as Esteem-able as BMSCE/MSRIT/Amrita.
For vibrant city life, internships, coding culture, and good placements, MSRIT or BMSCE Bangalore CSE is an excellent choice.
