NIRF Top 10 Engineering Colleges 2026: Students can soon check here list of Top 10 NIRF Ranking Engineering Colleges 2026. Since Engineering is one of the most popular choice for higher studies, students are often on a lookout for institutes that will offer them the best academic and overall experience. Through NIRF rankings 2026, students will be able to check the top engineering colleges, which will help them to make their admission-related decisions.
In last year’s NIRF ranking, IIT Madras secured the top rank amongst Engineering colleges, followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. Out of the top 10 NIRF ranking Engineering colleges, 9 were Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and 1 National Institute of Technology (NIT). MoE is expected to release NIRF 2026 rankings anytime soon in September. The official NIRF 2026 ranking release date is yet to be announced. National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is released annually by the Ministry of Education (MoE) to assess and rank higher educational institutes in India. Through NIRF ranking 2026, students and parents can evaluate the quality of the institute that they are considering for Engineering admissions based on verified data.

Top 10 NIRF Ranking Engineering Colleges 2026: Parameters
To prepare ranking for Engineering colleges, MoE will consider the following NIRF ranking criteria.
- Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR): Holds 30% weightage. Evaluates faculty strength and qualifications, student-teacher ratio, financial resources and how well they are used.
- Research and Professional Practice (RP): Holds 30% weightage. Evaluates Number and quality of research papers, patents, funded projects.
- Graduation Outcomes (GO): Holds 10% weightage. Evaluates Placement rates, graduation rates, students going on to higher studies.
- Outreach and Inclusivity (OI): Holds 10% weightage. Evaluates Diversity: women students/faculty, students from other states/countries, economically or socially disadvantaged students, facilities for differently-abled students.
- Perception (PR): Holds 10% weightage. Evaluates what employers, academic peers, and the public think of the institution
