The Union Public Service Commission has released the Civil Service (IAS) notification on its official website - upsconline.nic.in. The Commission also activated the CSE (IAS) applications online. The candidates should note that the last date to apply online for the UPSC IAS exam is February 24, 2026. The Commission will not provide the application correction facility. The Commission will conduct the IAS exam on May 24, 2026.

The Union Public Service Commission released the UPSC Civil Service (IAS) notification on February 4, 2026. The Commission has provided 20 days for the application filling process. The Commission mentioned the number of vacancies, eligibility, number of attempts, syllabus, exam pattern and all the legalities of the exam. The UPSC IAS exam dates 2026 are required for preparation strategy.

The second phase of interviews are being conducted at UPSC Bhawan, New Delhi. The interviews were started on December 8, 2025.

Q:   What is the duration of IAS prelims exam?

The IAS prelims exam is conducted offline in a pen and paper mode. The IAS prelims exam is conducted in two shifts on a single day.  The candidates are required to appear in both the papers and clear both of them. The IAS prelims result is prepared based on the marks scored in the General Studies paper 1. The IAS prelims General Studies paper 2 is qualifying only.

The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the IAS 2026 exam on May 24, 2026. The Commission is expected to release the IAS admit card online in the last week of April 2026.

The candidate can appeal against the UPSC result but it would be very difficult that the candidate can win against UPSC because the procedure followed by the UPSC is very transparent and the same is submitted in the Courts when asked for by the court. The candidates can win only if they secure more than their category cutoff but still, they were declared failed in the UPSC result.
