IBPS PO is conducted annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to select candidates for the post of Probationary Officers. The selection process of IBPS PO comprises prelims exam, Mains exam and interview. The total marks allotted to the prelims exam are 100. The Mains exam comprises both objective and descriptive-type questions. The total marks allotted to the Mains exam are 250. The interview carries a total of 100 marks. If a candidate enters a wrong percentage in the IBPS PO application form, it may lead to disqualification from the recruitment process. As per the official notification released, the IBPS PO 2025 application fee is INR 850 for General/OBC candidates and INR 175 for SC/ST/ PwBD candidates inclusive of GST. Also, the IBPS PO 2025 application fee payment dates were July 1 to July 21, 2025. - Rs.

• INR 175/- (inclusive of GST) for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
• INR 850 /- (inclusive of GST) for all others.

It is to be noted that Bank Transaction charges for Online Payment of application fees/ intimation charges will have to be borne by the candidate.

• In the Mains exam, 4 sections will be there namely Reasoning Ability, English Language and Data Analysis & Interpretation and General Awareness.
• The total time for IBPS PO 2025 Mains Objective Exam is 160 minutes and 30 minutes additional for descriptive test. Therefore, the total duration of the Mains exam is 190 minutes or 3 hours and 10 minutes. 
• A penalty of 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in the objective test.
• In the Mains exam now, 145 objective questions will be asked for 200 marks and an additional Descriptive Paper worth 25 marks will be asked, making the total 225 marks.
• Each section is separately timed which is demanding better time management from the candidates.

Revised Structure of Mains Exam (Objective and Descriptive)

The IBPS PO 2025 Prelims exam pattern has been revised. The overall marks and the negative marking remain the same, but internally changes have been made in the prelims exam pattern. The marking scheme has been changed. Also, the marks for the Quantitative Aptitude have been reduced to 30 from 35, and on the other hand, the marks for the Reasoning section have been increased by 5, that is, from 35 to 40. However, the number of questions remains the same.

Revised Structure of IBPS PO 2025 Prelims Exam

This year, a total of 5208 vacancies are announced for IBPS PO 2025 exam. The highest number of vacancies are announced for Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra and Canara Bank that is 1000.  A total of 2204 vacancies are announced for General Category, 1337 for OBC, 782 for SC and 365 for ST. IBPS PO educational qualification is a Degree/Graduation in any discipline from a university recognised by the government. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Candidates must possess valid marksheet/degree Certificate that they are graduate on the day they register and indicates the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registration online. All educational mentioned by the examination authority should be from a university/institution/board recognised by government. Of India/approved by government/approved by government  on or before July 21, 2025.  Proper document from Board / University for having declared the result on or before
July 21, 2025 has to be submitted at the time of interview. Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are not eligible to apply for the exam. At the time of interview, candidates are required to submit the educational qualification certificates.

The ratio of candidates selected for interview are in the ratio 80:20. Selection of candidates is done based on the Mains exam., The performance of candidates in the interview is taken into consideration for final merit list. The total marks allotted to interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks allotted to interview are 40 per cent. The qualifying marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD are 35 per cent. The interview assesses a candidate's intellectual capability, overall personality, and general knowledge.

Candidates selected as PO are promoted to the post of Middle Manager-Middle Management Grade Scale 2, Senior Manager-Middle Management Grade Scale 3, Chief Manager-Senior Management Grade Scale 4, Assistant General, Manager-Senior Management Grade Scale 5, Deputy General Manager, Management Grade Scale 6, General Manager-Top Management Grade Scale 7, Executive Director, Chairman and Managing Director.
