IBPS PO Selection Process 2026 Highlights

IBPS PO exam is the most sought-after banking exam in the country. The exam is conducted to select candidates for the post of Probationary Officer/Management Trainee in the 17 participating public sector banks. Depending on the final vacancies and based on the business needs of the participating organisations, candidates shortlisted are provisionally allotted to one of the banks. Q:   What is IBPS PO 2026 Educational Qualification?
A: 

IBPS PO educational qualification is a Degree/Graduation in any discipline from a university recognised by the government. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Candidates must possess valid marksheet/degree Certificate that they are graduate on the day they register and indicates the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registration online. All educational mentioned by the examination authority should be from a university/institution/board recognised by government. Of India/approved by government/approved by government on or before July 21, 2026.  Proper document from Board / University for having declared the result on or before
July 21, 2026 has to be submitted at the time of interview. Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are not eligible to apply for the exam. At the time of interview, candidates are required to submit the educational qualification certificates.

IBPS PO Selection Process 2026 Stages

The IBPS PO selection process consists of three phases like Prelims, Mains and Interview. Those candidates who will qualify in both prelims and mains will be eligible to attend the interview.The complete selection process of IBPS PO is explained below.

Release of application form

The registration process dates will released along with the IBPS PO notification 2026. The notification PDF is expected to be released in JUne-July 2026. Interested candidates need to fill IBPS PO apply form online. The application fee is INR 850 for General and OBC while it is Rs 175 for SC/ST/PWBD. Any graduate candidates can apply for the exam.

  • Visit at ibps.in.
  • Click the ‘New Registration’ .
  • Enter the required details for registration.
  • Registration number and password will be generated.
  • Upload the prescribed documents.
  • Fill in basic details, bank preference, exam centre, work experience, and educational qualification.
  • Preview the application form and correct the details if any.
  • Submit the application form.
  • Pay the application fees.
  • Take printout of fee receipt.

Admit Card

IBPS PO hall ticket is released separately for prelims, mains and interviews. The call letter for the prelims exam is issued to all the registered candidates. For the mains exam is issued to candidates qualifying the prelims exam. The call letter for the interview is issued to candidates qualifying the mains exam.

IBPS PO Exam

The examination is divided into prelims, mains, and interview. The prelims and mains exams are conducted online. The prelims exam comprises objective-type questions. The mains exam contains objective and descriptive test.

IBPS PO Result

The Scorecard is declared separately for prelims, mains, and provisional allotment. It is announced online. Candidates need to login with registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. The scorecard is released a few days after the declaration of result.

Selection Process: List of Documents Required for Interview

Candidates need to bring the following documents in original and their self-attested copies during interview:

  • Printout of the valid Interview Call Letter.
  • Valid system generated printout of the online application form.
  • Proof of Date of Birth.
  • Photo Identify Proof as indicated.
  • Marksheet or certificates for Graduation or equivalent qualification, etc.
  • Caste Certificate (If Required).
  • Income and Asset Certificate issued by any one of the Authorities.
  • Disability certificate in the prescribed format issued by the District Medical Board in case of Persons with Benchmark Disability category.
  • Experience certificate if any.
  • Any other relevant documents in support of eligibility.

Yes, candidates selected for the post of IBPS PO will be on probation for two years. During probation, the performance of candidates is assessed. The IBPS PO exam syllabus for preliminary and mains exam is different. The prelim exam tests a candidate's knowledge in English Language, Maths and Reasoning Ability. IBPS PO Salary 2026

The initial in-hand IBPS PO salary is INR 90,732.77 with dearness allowances, special allowances, other benefits. The initial basic pay of a PO is INR 48,480 as per 12th Bipartite Agreement. Based on the performance of candidates, they are promoted to the following positions:

  • JMGS I (Junior Management Grade Scale I) or probationary officers
  • Middle Manager-Middle Management Grade Scale 2
  • Senior Manager-Middle Management Grade Scale 3
