The IBPS PO notification is likely to be released in June-July 2026. The details that will be given in the notification PDF are exam dates for both Prelims and Mains, vacancy, eligibility, Application process, selection procedure, exam pattern, syllabus, Important guidelines, etc.

The IBPS PO notification is expected to be issued in June-July 2026 at ibps.in. It will consists of all the infomation related to the exam like application process, pattern, syllabus, dates, vacancies, selection process, etc. 

The official notification has not been released for 2026. But as per the official notification released for 2025, the IBPS PO application fee was INR 850 for General/OBC candidates and INR 175 for SC/ST/ PwBD candidates inclusive of GST. 

• INR 175/- (inclusive of GST) for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
• INR 850 /- (inclusive of GST) for all others.

It is to be noted that Bank Transaction charges for Online Payment of application fees/ intimation charges will have to be borne by the candidate.

There is no limit in the number of attempts in the IBPS PO exam. But important is to confirm the standards given in the notification. Candidate can give the exam as many times but the age limit is from 20 to 30 years. That is in between he or she can appear in the exam as many times they want.

• In the Mains exam, 4 sections will be there namely Reasoning Ability, English Language and Data Analysis & Interpretation and General Awareness.
• The total time for IBPS PO 2026 Mains Objective Exam is 160 minutes and 30 minutes additional for descriptive test. Therefore, the total duration of the Mains exam is 190 minutes or 3 hours and 10 minutes. 
• A penalty of 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in the objective test.
• In the Mains exam now, 145 objective questions will be asked for 200 marks and an additional Descriptive Paper worth 25 marks will be asked, making the total 225 marks.
• Each section is separately timed which is demanding better time management from the candidates.

Revised Structure of Mains Exam (Objective and Descriptive)

The IBPS PO Prelims exam pattern was revised in 2025. The overall marks and the negative marking remain the same, but internally changes have been made in the prelims exam pattern. The marking scheme has been changed. Also, the marks for the Quantitative Aptitude have been reduced to 30 from 35, and on the other hand, the marks for the Reasoning section have been increased by 5, that is, from 35 to 40. However, the number of questions remains the same.

Revised Structure of IBPS PO 2026 Prelims Exam

The IBPS PO exam syllabus for preliminary and mains exam is different. The prelim exam tests a candidate's knowledge in English Language, Maths and Reasoning Ability. The main exam tests aspirants' knowledge in GK, English, Maths, Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, and Financial Awareness. The level of difficulty of both the exams is also not same. 

IBPS PO Mains syllabus is given below:

Quantitative Aptitude: Simplification, Average, Percentage, Permutation and Combination Age Problems, Interest, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Probability Mixture and Alligations Speed, Time and Distance, etc. English Cloze test, para jumbles, fill in the blanks, sentence improvement, reading comprehensions, detecting the errors etc.

Reasoning Ability: Syllogism, coding-decoding, miscellaneous questions, input-output, seating arrangement, data sufficiency, logical reasoning, computer aptitude etc.

General Awareness: Banking, Financial Awareness, Current Affairs Static General Awareness

Descriptive Test: The syllabus comprises essay writing and letter writing.

Candidates qualifying the mains exam of IBPS PO are called for the interview. The marks obtained in the mains exam are counted for the final merit list.

This year, a total of 5208 vacancies were announced for IBPS PO 2025 exam. The highest number of vacancies were announced for Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra and Canara Bank that is 1000.  A total of 2204 vacancies were announced for General Category, 1337 for OBC, 782 for SC and 365 for ST.  The basic IBPS PO salary is INR 48,480. Besides, candidates get other allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and Special Allowances are also there. 

The public sector banks offer a good salary to candidates selected through IBPS PO exam. The basic salary is INR 48,480. After including all the allowances, the gross salary is around INR 90,732.77. Candidates selected as PO are promoted to the post of Middle Manager-Middle Management Grade Scale 2, Senior Manager-Middle Management Grade Scale 3, Chief Manager-Senior Management Grade Scale 4, Assistant General, Manager-Senior Management Grade Scale 5, Deputy General Manager, Management Grade Scale 6, General Manager-Top Management Grade Scale 7, Executive Director, Chairman and Managing Director.  

IBPS PO interview is conducted for candidates who qualify the Mains exam. The interview is of 100 marks. The level of difficulty may be easy or difficult.It can be cleared with the right approach. For this, candidates need to answer the interview questions with creativity.

IBPS PO is conducted annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to select candidates for the post of Probationary Officers. The selection process consists of prelims, Mains and interview. The prelims exam is of 100, Mains 250 and interview 100 marks. The final selection of candidates is done on the basis of Mains and interview.

IBPS PO educational qualification is a Degree/Graduation in any discipline from a university recognised by the government. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Candidates must possess valid marksheet/degree Certificate that they are graduate on the day they register and indicates the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registration online. All educational mentioned by the examination authority should be from a university/institution/board recognised by government. Of India/approved by government/approved by government on or before July 21, 2026.  Proper document from Board / University for having declared the result on or before
July 21, 2026 has to be submitted at the time of interview. Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are not eligible to apply for the exam. At the time of interview, candidates are required to submit the educational qualification certificates.

The ratio of candidates selected for an interview are 80:20. Aspirants are selected based on mains exam and their performance in interview is based upon final merit list. The interview is held for 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 40 per cent and for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD are 35 per cent.

The Institute of Banking and Personnel Selection (IBPS) released its official revised exam calendar on June 16, 2025. As per the official exam calendar, the IBPS PO Prelims Exam 2025 was conducted on August 23 and 24, 2025. The IBPS PO Main exam will be conducted on October 12, 2025.
