SSC MTS syllabus is the guiding path for the candidates preparing for the exam. The Staff Selection Commission will mention the SSC MTS syllabus 2024 in the official notification. The Commission is expected to release the SSC MTS notification 2024 on May 7, 2024. The SSC MTS syllabus 2024 will be notified in the official notification. The syllabus is the torch bearer for SSC MTS preparation. The Commission always ask questions about the topics mentioned in the official syllabus. The candidates should emphasize preparing all the topics mentioned in the SSC MTS syllabus because the Commission does not mention the weightage of the topics in the official notification. 

The Staff Selection Commission will release the SSC MTS syllabus with the official notification. The candidates will be required to check and prepare all the topics mentioned in the SSC MTS 2024 syllabus to score better in the exam. The Commission does not mention the weightage to the topics hence the candidates are suggested to prepare all the topics mentioned in the official syllabus and ensure their selection. The Staff Selection Commission is expected to conduct the SSC MTS exam 2024 Paper 1 in July - August 2024.

SSC MTS Syllabus 2024

The SSC MTS syllabus was amended in the previous notification and the name of the syllabus sections are also changed. The changes were done to accommodate the requirements raised due to the elimination of SSC MTS paper 2. The Commission added various topics in the arithmetic section and added Comprehension in the English section. The Commission also revised the marking structure of the SSC MTS paper 1 and removed the negative marking from the Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving section. The number of questions was also changed for the Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving section. SSC MTS notification 2024 revised the exam syllabus and structure of the exam. The SSC MTS paper 1 is conducted online as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) and the candidates need to check all the details about the exam in the official notification.

SSC MTS Syllabus Paper 1

The Commission has changed the SSC MTS paper 1 structure and marking scheme to make it more comprehensive. The Commission has added various topics in each of the section to make it more inclusive. The candidates can see here the revised SSC MTS Syllabus here.

SSC MTS Paper 1 Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving Syllabus

The Commission changed the names of the section to include more topics for the exam. General Intelligence and Reasoning in now Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving. The syllabus topics as mentioned in the official syllabus is given below:

SSC MTS Syllabus 2024 FAQs

Q: What is the revised SSC MTS 2023 syllabus?

A: SSC MTS syllabus was revised by the Commission in the latest notification. The new syllabus has added various topics in each section of the SSC MTS paper 1. The paper 2 was removed from the exam. The names of the SSC MTS Paper 1 sections were also changed. The Commission mention the section names and the topic names of the section. The candidates are suggested to prepare all the topics mentioned in the official syllabus. There are four sections in the SSC MTS Revised syllabus. The names of them are given below:

  • Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving
  • General Awareness
  • English Language and Comprehension

Q: Is typing necessary for SSC MTS?

A:  There is no typing test in the SSC MTS exam. The candidates are required to write a short essay or a letter in the SSC MTS paper 2. There is no skill test or DEST in the SSC MTS exam. The candidates are required to qualify in the PET/PST and DME in case of Havaldar. The Commission provides exemption to the PwD candidates for the PET/PST.

Q: What is the passing marks of MTS?

A: The candidates are required to score equal to or more than their category cutoff to get selected in the SSC MTS exam. The SSC MTS cutoff is calculated based on the SSC Normalised marks. SSC MTS paper 1 marks are considered for the final result because all the other stages of exam are qualifying only. The candidates should try to score high in the SSC MTS paper 1.

Q: What is SSC MTS paper 2 syllabus?

A:  SSC MTS paper 2 has been removed from exam. There is only one paper now - Paper 1. The final SSC MTS result will be prepared based on the marks secured in Paper 1 only. The Document verification is outsourced to the concerned department of appointment. The candidates opted for the Havaldar post will be required to qualify in PET/PST also. 

Q: What are the PET/PST requirement in SSC MTS Exam?

A: The Commission conducts the Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST) for the Havaldar post. The Commission mentions the requirements for the PET/PST in the official notification. Besides this, the commission also mentions that some categories of PwD are exempted from PET/PST. There is Walking event in the SSC MTS PET. In SSC MTS PST exam, the Commission mentions the physical measurements related to the male and female candidates. Cycling is removed from the PET.

Q: Is SSC MTS exam has physical test?

A: Yes, the candidates are required to qualify in the SSC MTS PET/PST. The candidates need to appear in the PET/PST and qualifying it is mandatory. SSC MTS paper 1 is the only paper whose marks are taken into account for the result. Rest all the stages are qualifying only. The candidates are required to appear and qualify all the stages. The candidates who opt for the Havaldar post need to undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME) before appointment. 

Q: Is SSC MTS exam tough?

A: SSC MTS exam is not tough at all. The candidates can clear the SSC MTS exam with right planning and strategy. Most important is to score well in the SSC MTS paper 1. The marks of the paper 1 are considered for the final result. The second important component is SSC MTS paper 2. The candidates should do essay writing practice so that they can qualify the SSC MTS paper 2. The time bound practice with mock tests is important for scoring better in the exam. 

Q: Is SSC MTS syllabus and SSC CHSL syllabus similar?

A: Yes, the SSC MTS syllabus and the SSC CHSL syllabus are similar but the difficulty level of the questions make the SSC MTS exam different. The candidates can simultaneously prepare for both the exam because of the similarity in syllabus. The marks assigned to each question in SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam is different from the SSC MTS exam.

Q: Can I crack SSC MTS without coaching?

A: The candidates can easily crack the SSC MTS exam without coaching. There is nothing in the SSC MTS syllabus which is difficult to prepare. It is not essential to join a coaching institute to prepare for the SSC MTS exam. SSC MTS paper 1 has four sections, namely 
  • English
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning,
  • Numerical Aptitude and
  • General Awareness
All the above topics can be prepared with the help of Internet and guidance from the online mentors.

Q: Is Lucent GK enough for SSC MTS?

A: The candidates should refer to the standard books for each of the section given in the SSC MTS syllabus. Lucent GK is a good book that can be referred for the General Awareness apart from NCERT. The candidates should learn all the facts given in the Lucent GK. These facts will help in the factual questions in the SSC MTS exam. Apart from the Lucent GK, the candidates should prepare the Current Affairs to score better in the exam.
