RRB NTPC Recruitment 2025, Exam Dates, Vacancies & Selection Process

The reasons for rejection of the RRB NTPC application form are invalid photograph, wrong date of birth, incorrect details, multiple applications, etc. Candidates should enter the details carefully to avoid any rejection of the application form. Candidates should fill the RRB NTPC application form online only. The application fee for all candidates except the fee concession categories is INR 500 whereas it is INR 250 for PwBD/Female/Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class. The application fee is refunded to candidates once they appear for the CBT 1 exam. Candidates belonging to SC / ST/ ExSM/ PwBD/ Female/ Minority/EBC/Transgender categories will be entitled to get a full refund of their examination fees, which is INR 250. Whereas candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC categories receive a partial refund of their examination fees, which is INR 400 after deducting the bank charges.

Firstly go to the official site, Now at the homepage, search for the NTPC CEN and go on forgot Registration Number link. Click on this link and wait. Now enter Name, DOB, Registered Email ID & Mobile No along with that follow the steps as asked. Hopefully there you'll get your roll number.

In RRB NTPC registration form, candidates need to enter their name, date of birth, father's name, mother's name, Aadhaar number, SSLC/Matric roll number, year of passing, mobile number and email-ID. Before submitting the registration, ensure and confirm that all the information given are correct. The registration details cannot be changed later. Candidates should note that their email and mobile numbers will be verified during the Online Application process with a One Time Password (OTP).. .

There will be two stage CBTs for RRB NTPC undergraduate posts followed by Computer based Typing Skill Test (TST) wherever applicable. Typing Skill Test for Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist. Subsequently, there will be document verification and medical examination. For Commercial cum Ticket Clerk and Trains Clerk there shall be two stage CBT followed by document verification and medical examination. RRB wise short listing of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT is done at the rate
of 15 times the vacancies. The short listing for Computer Based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test is done to the extent of 8 times the vacancies (may increase or decrease as per the requirement of Railway Administration) based on the merit of the candidates in 2nd Stage CBT. When a candidate is qualified in 1st stage CBT & shortlisted for subsequent stages as OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwBD he/she will continue to be considered as OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwBD respectively in all subsequent stages.

RRB NTPC selection process comprises various stages such as CBT 1, CBT 2, CBAT/CBTST, document verification and medical exam. The post-wise selection process is given below: First stage CBT, second stage CBT & Computer-based Aptitude Test is conducted for the posts of Station Master and Traffic Assistant. Subsequently, there will be document verification and medical examination. First stage CBT, Second stage CBT and Typing Skill Test are conducted for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper. Candidates need to appear for document verification and medical examination. For Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice, two-stage CBT is conducted, followed by document verification and medical examination.

There are two stage Computer Based Test (CBTs) followed by Computer based Aptitude Test (CBAT)/ Typing Skill Test (TST) wherever applicable. The Computer-based Aptitude Test for Station Master and the Typing Skill Test are held for Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist. For Goods Train Manager, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, there are only two stage CBTs followed by document verification and medical examination. 

Yes, there is a negative marking in RRB NTPC exam. 1/3 of the marks are deducted for wrong answers. For the correct answer, candidates score one mark. The total marks of the exam are calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers. The question paper of RRB NTPC is framed in 15 languages-Hindi, English Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipur, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.

The first stage CBT of RRB NTPC comprises questions from General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The test paper carries a total of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions. The first stage CBT is qualifying in nature. The test carries 100 marks. The exam is held for 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates accompanied by scribe). The structure of RRB NTPC exam pattern for CBT 1 is given below.

Yes, there is a minimum qualifying cut off in RRB NTPC exam. The minimum qualifying marks for CBT 1 and 2 are below:

General, EWS: 40 per cent

OBC and SC: 30 per cent 

ST: 25 %

 

RRB NTPC syllabus for Reasoning include questions from verbal and non-verbal Reasoning. The board prescribes RRB NTPC syllabus to evaluate the analytical, critical and logical reasoning skills of candidates applying for various non-technical posts. It also helps in evaluating the problem-solving ability and decision-making skills of candidates. Candidates who are well-versed in Reasoning inorder to score high marks in this section. For RRB NTPC General Intelligence and Reasoning section, candidates need to prepare Coding and Decoding, Analytical Reasoning, Data Sufficiency, Decision Making, Puzzle, etc. This section carries 30 questions in CBT 1 and 35 in CBT 2. Candidates should practice mock tests and previous years’ question papers to ace this section.

The total duration of the test is 10 minutes. Candidates are required to type 30 word per minute in English and 25 word per minute in Hindi. 

For General Knowledge section of RRB NTPC you need to cover Current Events of National and International Importance, Indian Literature, History, Polity, Geography, Economics, etc. The weightage given to this section in CBT 1 is 40 and in CBT 2 is 50. RRB Group D is the entry-level job in the Indian railway while RRB NTPC comes under the category of group C jobs, which are next to Group D posts. For RRB Group D posts, the educational qualification required is a Class 10th pass. For RRB NTPC undergraduate posts, candidates must have passed Class 12th. The posts announced under RRB Group D are Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical and S&T departments), Pointsman, etc. The posts announced under RRB NTPC are Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice, and Station Master.

RRB NTPC salary is different for different posts. The starting basic salary range offered to undergraduate posts is INR 19,900 to 21,700. While, the graduate post employees are offered RRB NTPC salary in the range of INR 25,500 to INR 35,400. The monthly basic salary for Junior Clerk cum Typist is INR 19,900 while it is INR 35,400 for Station Master and Commercial Apprentice. Candidates are also entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), Travel Allowance (TA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), pension benefits, and medical reimbursements.
