RRB NTPC Selection Process 2025: RRB NTPC selection process comprises various stages such as first stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), second stage CBT, typing skill test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) (conducted as per posts), and document verification/medical examination. The selection process of Station Master and Traffic Assistant includes two-stage CBTs, followed by CBAT.

Candidates for the post of Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, and Senior Time Keeper are selected based on two-stage CBTs followed by Typing Skill Test. Selection of candidates for Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice in RRB NTPC exam is done based on two-stage CBTs followed by document verification and medical examination. Q:   Is RRB NTPC exam tough?
A: 
RRB NTPC exam was moderate in terms of difficulty level. The General Awareness section was moderate, while General Intelligence and Reasoning sections were easy. The overall difficulty level of the Mathematics section was easy to moderate. RRB NTPC exam is held for 90 minutes for general candidates while 120 minutes is given for PwBD candidates. There are no sectional timings in RRB NTPC exam. Candidates need to attempt the paper within the allotted time duration.

The important changes announced in the selection process of RRB NTPC are highlighted below:

General Instructions

In case of the shortfall in empanelment of candidates or other exigencies, RRB reserves the right to utilize the candidates down the merit list if required, as per the merit and option given by them. 

Recruitment Process

Candidates who are shortlisted for CBT 2 availing the reservation benefits of OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/EWS, PwBD, and ExSM will not continue to be considered only against OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/EWS, PwBD, and ExSM for all subsequent stages of recruitment process.

Document Verification

Based on the performance of candidates in CBT 2 only or in both CBT 2 and CBAT/TST (as applicable), candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for document verification in the order of merit. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates, and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates.

RRB NTPC Selection Process

The complete recruitment process of RRB NTPC 2025 is explained below:

Filling the Application Form

To appear for the RRB NTPC exam, candidates need to first fill the RRB NTPC application form online. The application fees for General/OBC categories are INR 500 and INR 250 for SC / ST / PWD / Women/Ex-Servicemen/ Transgender/ Minorities/Economically Backward class.

RRB NTPC CBT

RRB NTPC first stage CBT is common for all posts. According to RRB NTPC exam pattern, the duration of the test is 90 minutes and comprises three sections: General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The first Stage CBT is for screening purpose. The marks of the first stage are normalised to select candidates for the second stage CBT. Candidates must solve the previous years' RRB NTPC Question Papers to crack the exam.

RRB NTPC Second Stage CBT

Shortlisting for the second stage CBT is done 20 times the number of vacancies based on the merit of the first stage. The second stage CBT comprises three sections: General Questions Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The duration of the test is 90 minutes. Candidates qualifying the second stage CBT are called for the skill test, depending on the posts they have applied for.

RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test/CBAT

CBAT is conducted for Station Master and Traffic Assistants while typing skill test is held for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper. The shortlisting for CBAT and typing skill test is done eight times the number of vacancies based on the merit of second stage CBT.

RRB NTPC Document Verification

Candidates qualifying the second stage CBT and based on their performance in CBAT and typing skill tests (as applicable) are called for document verification as per the number of vacancies and merit. The appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite medical fitness test.

RRB NTPC Medical Exam

The appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite medical examination. Candidates are tested on the basis of their physical fitness required for the post. Candidates should note that RRBs only recommend the names of empanelled candidates and appointment is offered by the respective RRBs.

RRB NTPC Level 3

RRB NTPC Level 3 includes the post of Commercial cum Ticket Clerk. The job responsibilities for RRB NTPC Level 3 is issuing tickets through Computer Reservation System (CRS) and Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), and keeping and maintaining the records related to luggage. 

RRB NTPC Level 4

RRB NTPC Level 4 post includes Traffic Assistant. The initial salary of Traffic Assistant is INR 25,500. The job responsibilities associated with this post are managing traffic and signal and working in different shifts.

RRB NTPC Level 5
