The NIMCET 2026 syllabus has been released and is now revised for the 2026 session. You can download the updated NIMCET syllabus at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. Check the new updated list of subjects, units, and topics. In the updated NIMCET syllabus, topics have been clearly outlined to help students plan their studies more effectively.

The new syllabus comprises Computer Awareness and Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, & General English.

Apart from 11 NITs and 2 IIITs, any top institutions such as Harcourt Butler Technological University (HBTU), Kanpur, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi, Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, etc., consider the NIMCET score for admission to their MCA programmes. So its important that you thoroughly go through the syllabus and leave no topic behind.

NIMCET 2026 Syllabus - General English

Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates' understanding of the English language. There will be questions on topics: comprehension, vocabulary, basic English grammar, word power, synonyms and antonyms, word meanings and phrases, and technical writing.

The difficulty level of NIMCET is normal. Here is the bifurcation of the difficulty level -

  • Computer awareness: BCA/B.Sc. IT level

Please note that the questions asked in NIMCETs are tricky, and you would need an in-depth understanding of the subjects. NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern

Candidates were advised to review and familiarise themselves with the NIMCET 2026 exam pattern. Details regarding how the entrance examination was conducted can be checked through the NIMCET exam pattern 2026. According to the NIMCET exam pattern, the authorities conducted the exam as a computer-based test. Within the 2-hour duration, the candidates had to attempt 120 objective multiple-choice questions. The marking scheme varied according to the section of the question paper.

According to the revised NIMCET syllabus, the Computer Awareness covers topics like Computer Basics, Data Representation, Computer Hardware & Software, and Internet & email. The section includes 20 questions.

Q:   Will there be any breaks during the NIMCET exam duration?
A: 

No, there will not be any break during the NIMCET exam. The NIMCET exam will be conducted with a single paper containing 120 MCQs, and the different segments of the exam will appear to the candidate one after the other. Time assigned for each part is fixed, so there is no scope for any breaks. The candidate should complete each part in the given time only, as movement from one section to another is not allowed.

No. You cannot manually convert CGPA to percentage or vice-versa to qualify. If your university uses a 10-point scale, a 6.5 CGPA is the minimum requirement for General/OBC candidates.

360+Top 100Excellent: You can likely pick any top NIT you want, like the popular ones in Trichy or Warangal.
300 - 359101 - 500Very Good: You have a high chance of getting into a strong NIT.
240 - 299501 - 1500Good Goal: You can likely secure a spot in a mid-tier NIT.
Below 120Low ChancesDifficult: Getting a seat at any NIT is very unlikely with this score.

The NIMCET application edit window usually opens 2-3 days after the last day of application. Historically, it opens for 2 days within which applicants can make any edits in their application if required. Please note that no requests in this regard shall be entertained thereafter.
