The NIMCET 2026 syllabus is available at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. Please be informed that the old syllabus has been revised and will be implemented from NIMCET 2026 onwards. The new list of subjects, units, and topics that candidates must study and prepare for the entrance examination can be checked through the NIMCET syllabus 2026. Before commencing the preparation process, candidates are advised to carefully review the new official NIMCET 2026 syllabus. According to the NIMCET 2026 syllabus, topics have been clearly outlined for students to plan their studies more effectively. The new syllabus comprises Computer Awareness and Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, and General English. The authorities used the syllabus to prepare the question paper for NIMCET 2026. NIMCET 2026 Syllabus - General English

Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding of the English language. There will be questions on the following topics: comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (including the use of correct forms of verbs, prepositions, and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, the meaning of words and phrases, and technical writing.

NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern

Candidates were advised to review and familiarise themselves with the NIMCET 2026 exam pattern. Details regarding how the entrance examination was conducted can be checked through the NIMCET exam pattern 2026. According to the NIMCET exam pattern, the authorities conducted the exam as a computer-based test. Within the 2-hour duration, the candidates had to attempt 120 objective multiple-choice questions. The marking scheme varied according to the section of the question paper. 

NIMCET 2026 Marking Scheme

Section Marking Scheme
Part I - Mathematics
  • 12 marks will be awarded for every correct answer
  • 3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer
Part II - Analytical Ability & Reasoning
  • For every correct answer, 6 marks will be awarded
  • 1.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer
Part III - Computer Awareness
  • For every correct answer, 6 marks will be awarded
  • 1.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer

  • 4 marks will be awarded for every correct response
  • 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer

The eligibility criteria for NIMCET are as follows -

Must be an Indian citizen

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree in B.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), BCA, B.Tech/B.E., or any equivalent degree with Mathematics/Statistics as a subject at 10+2 or graduation level

Minimum Marks

At least 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA  (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates)

Final Year Students

Eligible to apply, but must provide proof of passing before admission

The National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are the conducting authorities of the NIMCET. Every year, an NIT conducts the exam on a rotational basis. In 2025, the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, conducted the exam.

The NIMCET is conducted by an individual NIT on a rotational basis every year. So the NIT that is conducting the NIMCET in that year will release the NIMCET answer key. In 2025, the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli conducted the NIMCET and hence, released the answer key.
