FTII JET Syllabus 2025: Check Subject/Section wise JET Syllabus

The Film and Television of Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET) is conducted in offline i.e. pen and paper mode. The question and answer booklet will be distributed to the candidate at least 10 minutes before the commencement of exam. The question paper will be MCQ-based and candidates will have to mark the correct option in the answer booklet.

It is advised that students only stick to a couple of books and do not accumulate a lot of study material. This way they can avoid confusion and the stress of going through everything.

Once the application form is submitted, the candidate cannot change the exam center at any stage. The change of examination center will be entirely at the discretion of the exam conducting authority and the candidates will be liable to follow the instructions.

In the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET) there are two papers - Paer 1 and 2. The paper 1 has two parts A & B, each consist of Muitlple Choice Questions (MCQ-type) while the paper 2 has descriptive questions where candidates will have to answer in short notes, they will ahve to describe certain sketches and photographs as mentioned in the question paper. The syllabus of the FTII JET exam includes all the important topics like:

• Art & craft of Film & TV
• Allied Arts
• Literature
• General Awareness
• Environmental Awareness
• General Knowledge Related to Art & Culture
• Media

The total marks of the FTII JET exam are 100 marks. In Part A of Paper I: one mark is awarded to each right question and 0.25 is deducted on the wrong answer. In Part B of Paper I: two marks are awarded to each right question. However, the questions may have one or more right answers, so candidates need to select all the correct options, failing which they will be given partial marks. This part also has the provision of negative marking.

On clearing the Joint Entrance Test (JET), students can get admission into Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) as well as the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India (SRFTI). These two premiere institutes are the conducting body of FTII JET as well. Candidates who qualify in this exam will be eligibile to take up film making related courses in either of the two institutes.

The Paper-I of all the eligible appeared candidates is evaluated. On the basis of the performance in Paper-I, Paper-II (JET exam) is evaluated of only selected number of top scoring candidates (based on the respective category). The roll numbers of the candidates shortlisted for the evaluation of Paper-II, will be published on the website of JET. Further the shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview and orientation process.
