Q:   What types of questions are asked in the FTII JET exam?

The FTII JET Stage 1 exam has two papers. Paper 1 includes multiple choice question and paper 2 includes descriptive questions. In second part of FTII JET Satge 1 question paper, candidates will have to answer questions in short notes and describe the given sketches and photographs.

Q:   How hard is it to crack FTII JET?
A: 

It is a bit tough to crack the FTII JET exam because FTII is the premier film making school in India and aspirants from all over India apply for this coveted exam making the competition a bit tough. To pass through the competition candidates will have to make a proper exam strategy and allot equal time to covering the whole syllabus, solving the question papers and leave good time for revision. In the FTII JET exam students will be judged on their intellectual skills, general studies, English, general knowledge and the prescribed syllabus.

According to students who appeared for FTII JET last year at various test centres in India, overall difficulty of FTII JET question paper was moderate. Most questions were asked from syllabus, while some were on current affairs in general aptitude test. According to student feedback, long descriptive answers were a bit tougher than expected. Students found MCQs simple, but answering long questions was time-consuming.

This shows that, for the 2026-27 admission cycle, students preparing for FTII JET entrance exam must focus more on long descriptive answer questions and work on their speed.

Q:   Is the FTII JET conducted in offline mode or online?
A: 

The Film and Television of Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET) is conducted in offline i.e. pen and paper mode. The question and answer booklet will be distributed to the candidate at least 10 minutes before the commencement of exam. The question paper will be MCQ-based and candidates will have to mark the correct option in the answer booklet.

Q:   How much to score to qualify the FTII entrance exam?
A: 

There is a cut off which is defined after the exam is conducted. The FTII JET cut off is defined based on various factors such as the exam's difficulty level, total number of applicants who appeared in the exam and the shifts under which the exam is conducted. Candidates who score equal to or more than the FTII JET cut off will qualify in the exam. As far as the minimum passing marks of FTII JET varies, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII for General Category is 50% for General category while that for OBC NCL category is 45%.

FTII JET 2026 Marking Scheme

The FTII JET Stage 1 question paper is of 100 marks. It is divided into two papers - Paper 1 & Paper 2. Paper I includes 30 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each and Paper 2 includes subjective questions of total 40 marks. FTII JET Stage 2 is an interview round, conducted at FTII Pune Campus. It is conducted to assess a candidate's ability on selected course.

For FTII JET Stage 1 Paper 1:

  • Each question will have FOUR options. The questions will have only one correct answer option.
  • For each question, candidates will choose the option(s) corresponding to (all) the correct answer (s)
  • For every correct answer, candidates will get 2 marks.
  • In case of incorrect answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted.
  • No marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.

For FTII JET Stage 1 Paper II: There is no specific marking scheme for FTII JET Paper 2 of Stage 1 exam. But, the total marks for Paper 2 is 40 marks.

As per official website of Film and Television Institute of India, Stage 1 has 30% weightage on the overall result and Stage 2 has 70% weightage on overall result of a candidate.

You might already know that you have to carry your admit card to the FTII JET exam centre. You can take two copies just to be safe. Also, carry a government issued photo ID like your Aadhaar Card, PAN Card or Driver's License. And you can only take the test with a blue/ black ball point pen, so carry those.

No, a candidate cannot fill FTII JET application form offline. The Film and Television Institute of India releases JET registration form in online mode and candidates have to fill and submit the same in online form only. No offline application form will be accepted by FTII for entrance exam.
