FTII JET 2025 Syllabus: The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) prescribes the FTII JET syllabus. The FTII JET 2025 syllabus will be published in the annual notification/brochure of the exam. However, it remains largely unchanged year after year. Aspiring students who wish to take the FTII JET can go through the detailed syllabus here. As per the FTII JET 2025 syllabus, the questions will be based on Arts & Crafts, Film & TV, Allied Arts, Literature, General Awareness, Environmental Awareness, and General Knowledge. Q:   What topics are covered in the FTII JET exam syllabus?
A: 

The FTII JET exam syllabus consists of a wide array of subjects including film knowledge, general awareness, current affairs, logical reasoning, and basic aptitude in the field of cinema and television.

Q:   What resources can I use to enhance my general awareness of FTII JET?
A: 

Stay updated with current affairs through newspapers, magazines, and online news portals. Engage in discussions about socio-political events, cultural trends, and technological advancements to broaden your general awareness.

Q:   What are MSQs in FTII JET?
A: 

You maybe referring to the questions with multiple answers or multiple solution questions. In FTII JET, some questions have more than one correct option. The marking scheme also differs based on the number of correct options. It is as follows - 

(i) Full Marks: +2 if only (all) the correct option (s) is marked. 
(ii) Partial Marks: +1.5 if all the options are correct but only three correct options are chosen.
(iii) Partial Marks: +1 If three or more options are correct but only two options are chosen, both of which are correct.
(iv) Partial Marks: +0.5 If two or more options are correct but only one option is chosen that is correct.
(v) Zero Marks: 0 if none of the options are chosen (i.e. the question is unanswered).
(vi) Negative Marks: – 0.25 in all other cases

Q:   Do reserved category candidates get a discount on the FTII JET application fee?
A: 

Yes, the FTII JET application form costs INR 600 for reserved category (SC, ST, PwD and all female applicants) candidates if applying for one programme. Reserved category candidates who wish to apply for two and three programmes have to pay INR 900 and INR 1200 respectively. That is INR 300 extra for each additional paper.

FTII JET Exam 2025 Syllabus

FTII JET exam basically evaluates aspirants based on their aptitude in Film and TV. To understand the FTII JET syllabus well, aspiring students must be aware of the pattern of this exam. There are two sections to the exam, one with multiple choice questions and a descriptive section. The section with MCQs is further divided into two. 20 MCQs are based on general awareness, film & TV, literature, etc. while 15 questions are subject specific based on the choice of specialisation. FTII JET Descriptive Syllabus

In this paper, questions will be asked based on sketches, photographs, etc. Besides that, short note questions will also be asked which may include subject questions. Candidates are required to prepare topics based on the subjects they are applying for.

Q:   Are there any specific books recommended for FTII JET preparation?

While there are no prescribed textbooks, you can refer to resources like filmmaking manuals, screenwriting guides, and books on film theory and history to gain insights into the craft. Don't limit yourself to textbooks; explore diverse sources to enrich your understanding.

Q:   Can I study at FTII part-time?
A: 

No, the courses offered at FTII are full-time courses. If aspirants are studying at some other institute or have a job, they must leave them and resign. In cases like these, they will be required to produce their withdrawal/ resignation certificates and any other relevant documents during the document verification phase of the admission process. 

Q:   What is the direction course at FTII like?
A: 

FTII and SRFTI offer two Direction courses - a 3-year PG Diploma in Direction and Screen Writing and a one-year PG Certificate course in Direction. Aspirants must take FTII JET for admission to these courses. According to the institute's FTII JET prospectus, the direction courses are designed to meet the current trends of the industry. Students are trained in writing and directing fictions and documentaries in a multi-camera setup. The faculty are experienced industry professionals who make add to the quality of these direction courses. 

Q:   How to approach the current affairs section of the FTII JET exam?

For most courses offered at FTII and SRFTI, graduates from any discipline can apply given that they are 21 years or over. However for the Sound Recording and Sound Design course, aspirants must have physics as a subject in their high school. For the Art Direction and Production Design course, the aspirants must have a degree or Diploma certificate in applied arts, architecture, sculpture, interior design or any other field in the Fine Arts.

Q:   What happens if two candidates obtain the same scores in FTII JET?
A: 

In case, two or more candidates obtain similar marks in the FTII Joint Entrance Test, a tie-breaking policy will be applied. Aspirants must consider the following points in regard to the tie-breaking policy. 

  • Candidates with higher cumulative marks (marks obtained in the written test, orientation and the interview, out of 300) will be considered higher on the merit lists.
  • If the tie still occurs, marks obtained in the written test, orientation and interview (sequentially) will be compared and considered. 
Q:   What is the syllabus of FTII JET?

The syllabus of the FTII JET exam includes all the important topics like:

Q:   Do I need to my FTII JET admit card during interview and medical test?
A: 

The exam body does not directly mention the use of FTII JET admit cards during interviews and medical tests. However, it is an important document and it is advised that it should be preserved until these stages of the selection process have concluded. 

Q:   What are the FTII JET courses for which interviews are conducted?
A: 

Once the written exam is conducted, students who pass it are called for orientation and interview stages. Interviews and orientation are held for all courses offered at FTII and SRFTI. However, for the screen acting course, students must interview and audition in-person at FTII or SRFTI campuses. For the rest of the courses, interviews and orientations are conducted online. 

Q:   I am a general category candidate. What is the FTII JET application fee for 3 courses?
A: 

General category candidates have to pay INR 4000 for 3 courses at FTII. For one single course, the application fee is INR 2000 while for each additional paper, general category candidates have to pay INR 1000 extra. 

Q:   What is the marking scheme for FTII JET?
A: 

The total marks of the FTII JET exam are 100 marks. In Part A of Paper I: one mark is awarded to each right question and 0.25 is deducted on the wrong answer. In Part B of Paper I: two marks are awarded to each right question. However, the questions may have one or more right answers, so candidates need to select all the correct options, failing which they will be given partial marks. This part also has the provision of negative marking.
